How are you taking those screenshots? I can't seem to find a way to take a screenshot of the menu. When I use Printscreen, I can't paste it into paint, and Thief's screenshots can only be taken in-game, it seems.

if you are using NewDark, just press printscreen and the screenshot will be created and placed into a screenshots folder in your game folder.

Ok I guess I don't need to upload.
At 1280x1024, the screenshot shows the black bars. At 1280x960 and 1152x864 the screenshots don't show the black bars, but they are there in the game... so what is going on?

that probably means some hw device is forcing the incorrect aspect ratio. might be your graphics card, or your monitor, or both.

ok well my monitor's native aspect ratio is 5:4 so I should be using 1280x1024 which is the one with black bars in the screenshot
But I don't get it, aren't programs supposed to scale the images to fill the whole screen, why am I getting black bars, it doesn't do this other programs regardless of resolution, neither does it in the actual thief gameplay, just in the menu
