Clearly the NewDark developers have a keen sense of humour. I have a book text for people who manage to escape from my mission. For a long time it's said "Well done, you escaped :p". The text used to be displayed just like that, but after fiddling with some graphics settings in cam_ext.cfg, I now get a genuine smiley. It was a few weeks between changing the settings and reading the book, so I can't remember what I changed.
After noticing the smiley I did some digging in one of the files in intrface.crf (one of the .bin files) and found a well hidden set of simley codes. Here's a screenshot of my book after I used them all:

No special formatting is needed. Just the usual, e.g:
page_0: "Here is some text that makes me mad :m"
It's nice to know that while they're bringing us all these advanced features they're taking the time to do something silly.
