Alt-E returns to editor mode.

Thank you.
Seems like I have a lot of re-learning to do...unless there is a dedicated tutorial out there somewhere or some kind soul is fervently working on one.:thumb::thumb:
Bugger...Alt E doesn't work for me.

I unzipped all the zips in the newdark folder to my DromEd folder..have I done it wrong.
That should work, but with the number of problems your install is having, I'd strongly recommend starting fresh. From a clean T2 install, use Tafferpatcher to install NewDark; it takes care of all the key details. After that, you'd just need to install the portion of the DromEd Toolkit that still applies with ND: all the .cmd files, default.bnd*, possibly menus.cfg, and any desired tools, docs, and schemas. (Don't install any .exe or other .cfg files from the Toolkit.)

If your install is set up correctly, the NewDark DromEd interface shouldn't be very different. Most of the new features are in specific areas, like the Object Hierarchy window (filtering and querying) or the level building process (the new Build Dialog). Some of them (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131800#newdark) do have tutorials now, and others are demonstrated in contrib_editor_demos.zip in NewDark itself.

In DromEd game mode, you can always press the colon (:) to bring up the console. From there, you can run (almost) any DromEd command, including edit_mode to return to editor mode.
* Edit: Yes, as LarryG noted, your (key) bindings, as set in default.bnd, are why Alt-E doesn't work. I'm not sure where the best source for an updated one is.

Thank you, I'll try that tomorrow.
I'm playing around with a little something off the cuff to see how it go's as it is a long time since I made a level (Portisco Head being my favourite)..I have a few ideas but was always put off with the never ending screen complexity errors.
I have carved out a large air brush and am happily filling it with solid uneven, split height buildings sitting atop of a complex sewer system....;)

The commands (like portalize) not working at all sounds like it's trying to reference .cmd files from dromed.cfg and is not finding them in your thief 2 folder. The dromed toolkit is supposed to put them all into a cmds folder if I remember correctly. (Or was it NewDark? I don't know.)

I seem to recall that being an issue with using the dromed toolkit. I had to go into the file and add back in alt+e. Or was it in menus.cfg itself? I can't remember, but I do recall having the exact same problem.
