I'm so sick of talking about this, so of course, I started a new blog. My family and friends have become increasingly hesitant to ask about my health because they know the answer is fairly complicated. It's easier for me to explain it one time, so that's what I'm using this for. Things can also change fairly rapidly and often so this was the best way I could think of to keep everyone caught up, if they choose to wade into the mess at all.
The blog is here: (

A quick catchup:
*Mar 2010 - Diagnosed with irreversible heart failure due to HCM at Tufts Med Center, Boston Mass. Transplant recommended as only option to not getting dead.
*Apr - Dec 2010 - Tried to work with HCM/Transplant team at Barnes Jewish Med Cntr, St. Louis, Missouri. Thought this would allow us to continue living in NW Arkansas through transplant process, closer to family/support system.
*Jan 2011 - Concluded that St. Louis and aforementioned doctors suck a big horse schlong, Switch to Plan B.
*Feb 2011 - Realize Plan B is borked due to over saturation of new nurses in Boston hospitals. My wife is a cardiac nurse and was going to get a job somewhere in Boston so we could move there and get listed for transplant at Tufts in town. Enact Plan C.
*Feb 2011 - Plan C - wife gets job as travelling nurse, takes 2 positions near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (as close as she could get to Boston with her little experience). Stay in PA until Aug 2011. Wife kicks ass at both jobs, now can travel anywhere she pleases because she's fucking awesome at what she does.
*Aug 2011 - Return "home" to Little Rock, AR on 13 week contract. Spend as much time as possible with dying father in law and grandmother. Kids get spoiled by grandparents.
*Nov 2011 - Heart condition worsening, wife taking the rest of the year off to deal with loose ends in this part of the country (stored furniture, licenses for New England, final preparations for her dad's inevitable passing, etc. )
*Jan 2012 - Will start new 13 week contract in Lebanon, NH, 2 hours from Tufts, Boston. This will allow me to officially be listed for heart transplant, though my condition is not urgent yet, and I will likely float at bottom of list for a few years until it is. Intention to take various 3 month contracts in New England within 4 hours of Tufts to explore for places to live permanently during transplant process.
So there ya go. Lots of missing details in that, but you get the idea. I'm also sick of starting new threads here about this and never know if it's important enough to do so. Thanks for reading. I love you guys.

Good reason as to why people should check organ donor.

Thanks for making a thread, fett, I was already wondering for a few weeks how you were holding up. I hope this will be a best-case scenario onwards, and we'll see a lot of you here for many more years to come - I like to drink my commchat with plenty of fett posts.
Also of couuurse this has no business in Commchat but after reading your post I'm suddenly tempted to relisten to that T2X commentary you did with Sledge.

I'm crossing appendages for you, fett.
I felt bad I got tagged with conflicting obligations last month so I couldn't come over to hang out in Dallas. It honestly got me really down for a while, but fortunately TTLG is always a click away, and there will be other chances.
I'll reprise this guy for your thread. He's expressing basically how I feel about the situation. :)
