I tried to copy the entire cd1 in the hard drive, but the file "snd.crf" of 316 mb cannot be readed. I need that file again :( some help? where i can get that file again? :( This is the path where the file is located in the Thief cd1: " E:\THIEF2\RES\snd.crf " This/my Thief2 cd1 is 504 mb. Long time & nice memories.

Unreal_Taffer, you can easily buy a whole new set on the internet for a couple of euro's or dollars.
I did some time ago, because I'm afraid this will also happen to one of my original CD's one day too.
The one's I bought were also originals and new.
I don't remember the company I bought them from, but it was pretty easy to find, as I remember.

Yes, no need for all the syrupy drama - I bought my backup version of T2 on Amazon for $4.

UT - I feel your pain. My T2 CD was broken last summer and I almost had to go into therapy. People don't understand. The fact that you can 'get a new one' is like telling a kid he can get a new puppy after his good old dog died. I had a history with that disc. Memories. An emotional connection.
I eventually replaced it, but like a loved pet or guitar, I didn't run out and do it immediately out of respect for the dead. There was an appropriate period of mourning before I could move on.
You are in my thoughts. :(

Funny, or rather untimely, my cd broke in the same exact place...you know, there's no reason why you can't glue it to your monitor or hang it with a family portrait on the wall.
Nonetheless, there is no easy way to say this: Tommorow will never be the same
PLEASE everbody, a moment of silence for his loss

Well, the same happened to my Grand Theft Auto San Andreas DVD, but... this... this... I cannot find words for this. Hope it never happens to me
I regret your loss, UT

It could just be a scratch on the CD. I've read online that if you get a fluoride toothpaste, and buff the CD with it from the middle to the edge (not circular, for some strange reason), it's supposed to help. I've tried it on a couple CDs, and it has left streaks from the center to the edge from the buffing, but it did get it to work. If it's already dead, it can't hurt, right? Another thing you could do, it try reading it in a DVD drive, if you haven't already. I've found numerous discs that are old and a bit scratched won't be read in a CD drive, but a DVD drive will.
Of course, if the disc is actually cracked, then putting it in a drive could cause it to spin apart. (Haven't personally had this happen to me, but a friend had a CD blow apart in a drive... Left Shattered pieces everywhere).

Unless the scratch is in the foil under the label on top.:erg:
