Just keep in mind that this is only a few weeks worth of work on the UT3 engine. We have been working hard to get a playable prototype out there, but as the description says this is a very early alpha release to get the community involved with the development of the game.

Interesting to note, how many past games get a rebirth like this? Game or mods. Some, but not too many. I think their decision to port Thievery over, was a wise decision.
Beleg Cúthalion, there are more screen shots in the Alpha thread itself on Black Cat. Shots from Schleicher, about half way down the page. (

Thanks a lot. I'll try to keep myself up-to-date.

Keep it up, guys, I'm looking forward to fiddling with full version of NB, and all those nice high-res materials and models.

Indeed. I'm not a fan of multi-player thief, it'd be perfectly fine for me if this game was a hack'n slash multiplayer with bow & swords in a thiefish environment.
Still, fiddling around its editor is tempting. Especially seeing the new material editor in ut3, one can easily drool to try out some level design.

What? Your entire post is back to front. It's like you're posting from some parallel inverto-world where there is actually a multiplayer Thief and NightBlade isn't going to be a hack'n slash multiplayer game with bow & swords in a thiefish environment.
Freaky.

I think he wants strictly co-op with KO's, thats it.
Flux on 5/3/2008 at 23:24
Ok, my mistake I guess. Is nightblade a "hack'n slash multiplayer game with bow & swords in a thiefish environment"? I mean without the stealth-aspect. Just like rune, in the old days if anyone remember. Simply straight-forward deathmatch with bows and swords, without trying to ko bots or stealing stuff or objectives. Is night-blade providing this or something else? Or the better question is what is the difference between thieveryUT and night blade?
I know there is no multi-player for thief, yet. People are trying to hack it into t2. That's the idea* I'm not interested in, meaning two thieves competing or helping each other against ai guards.
*ideas always come from parallel inverto-world.:p

TUT/NB can go either way. You can have a DM match, or pure thief. That mainly depends on the players at the current time. It can go either way.
At the height of Thievery, there were plenty of good stealthy thieves making their way to nab the objectives. Believe me when I say, it made for some pretty intense games. See, the thing is, playing against a human is better than a bot any time. It can't compare. Single player is great for getting your feet wet, then its time for on-line play, a whole different ball game.
The human guards know the spots, know the areas, you had to be quick as a thief, and move it. Find those places to hide, and do your best. Many good games, lots of good times. :) Each game was different. I played both guard and thief, my favorite was a thief. Hard to do, high learning curve. I'm looking forward to watching this progress. You get a good bunch of people playing, nothing else like it. I can't tell you how many times my hands would get the shakes from a game.
If you strictly want to thieve, and KO, then this won't be for you. You will have to fight, defend yourself, and you will be able to sneak. Some of those guys can ghost, get in and out so quickly, it can blow your mind, they are fast and good. It takes practice and skill. If you have the patience, and the time, give it a shot. :)
You can set-up your own server easily, a listen server, and do co-op with a group of people, and play against the bots, you can do that too.

Okay, now there's a reason to update my computer for UT3.
By the way, weren't there some plans about a third team not too long ago? Shades or something. Was it abandoned? Well, personally I'd prefer the gameplay like this anyway.
