We will have to price the 2 versions and consider what we need vs. want.
I'd still go with the DS Lite for one reason: (
http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=100) this. Unless you have the hands of a anemic four year old, the DS isn't exactly the most comfortable system to hold for any long period of time. It's just too thin. After spending 15 minutes with it, I feel like my hands are slowly twisting into arthritis-ridden claws sporting huge swollen knuckles. And now we have the DSi, which sacrifices more comfort for even more portability, and doesn't offer anything meaty to justify extra pain or the $50 upgrade.
I might reconsider when we start seeing some half decent downloadable games, and some brave 3rd party releases another grip equivalent for it. Until then, I won't even glance at the thing.

Oh, that is pretty cool. I may have to invest in one of those grips.

DS lite feels fine, the new psp is really uncomfortable for me the old one had these 'shoulders' much better grip. The DS isn't meant to be used for long gaming sessions anyway, it has excellent battery regardless why tag these extra's along it's supposed to be convenient.

Why should I need a DSI for the download service? They should just release a flash cart. Or even an SD-card adapter cart.

I wear size 13 (USA) shoes and have yet to meet anyone w/bigger hands than me. Size is a consideration. Also, (

I will be interested in this iteration of the DS only if it can be hacked with relative ease by a rabid community. I have over 40 green-screen Game Boy games that I would love to relive playing on a new, slim device.
That, and I believe that the innovation possible on the device has slowed, much like with the Wii platform. We've seen the things that well-endowed, authorized development houses can put on the DS, and they're really great and all, but I want to see what the greater internet can do with this hardware without buying gray market hardware and poring over readmes and tutorials.
Now, we all know N's track record of locking out anauthorized innovation, so I'm not holding my breath or opening my wallet anytime soon. On the other hand, they could open a dev kit and an DSi-accessible store where anyone can generate content for their device. They can scrape a percentage off the top, we all go home happy.
Yep, that's going to happen.
