Red Steel is a perfect example of how not to do an FPS.
COD and MOH play great though. Silent Hill: Shattered Memory's...it actually sounds like they are on to something.

I doubt you've played the original so you don't know, so let me be polite and tell you that no, no, no they are not.

Longtime-fan, even if I never finished the game because of disc faillure. There's a lot to like, one big world without loadingtimes, no easy escapes, a different icy brrrrr dark world (think of how scary and otherworldy that can be, muted sounds, hearing creatures move around in the snow, enviroment morphing depending on how much trouble you are in YAY), character speaking when aiming at something instead of cheesy texts, gameworld changing dependent on your actions, could turn out to be a fantastic stealth adventure-game. I like a different aproach, formula was getting rather old-fashioned.

Sure, that all sounds great, if they were doing something other than a remake of the original game. They can't even keep the time faithful. SH1 takes place in the early 80s; they're modernizing it to hell to appeal to modern-day console kiddies who don't even remember the 90s. And no combat? Fuck that. A game should strive towards making you feel helpless even when you're armed- this is some contrived bullshit where you can't even arm yourself (what moron wouldn't at least try to find a large blunt object if not a gun?)
Fuck Shattered Memories. Fuck it to hell. This stupid bullshit series hasn't been good in years. Silent Hill 3 was the last SH worth playing. Fuck this series. Fuck Konami. Fucking fuck fdalfja;lsdjflfhadj;flkajsdlfkadsl;f GOD I'm just going to go to bed.

If they're removing combat it doesn't sound like they're too concerned about appealing to "console kiddies".

Ya, Silent Hill 5 with all the combat would be a more likely candidate.
Anyways, random book recommendation that Silent Hill fans will devour, just as whacky.

They're removing combat and replacing it with a single button for everything. Run, climb over a fence, open a door, etc. The entire game is set to be one big QTE clusterfuck. Now tell me that's not simplifying it for the retards.

You mean using the general "action" button to perform an action, context of which depends on the object you're interacting with?
Pull my beard, I've never done that in a fixed-camera, TPP survival horror game before.
june gloom on 7/5/2009 at 15:24
Don't be silly, Koki, you've never actually played a fixed-camera, survival horror game before.
