I keep bouncing around the idea of buying a wii.
The sports games and wii fit are particularly appealing for me.
I dont really see it as a "hardcore" games console though - for that fix I'd much rather play on my "ninja pc" where the graphics are generally better and I prefer the games.
But the wii is most certainly not a hardcore gaming console. Its a fun distraction. Saying that, whats this about xbox 360 hand gesture technology? Anyone else heard of that?

Sony look likely to reveal one for the PS3 at E3 too.

It's the motion controls.
Yes, it turned out that they were, in fact, NOT the second coming of Christ. Actually, it turns out that they were mostly shit.
Even if Nintendo supported third-party developers more there's little a third-party developer can do with the tools they're given to make a "hardcore" game.

Motion controls were excellent, but no one gave a fuck.

Red Steel is actually a really satisfying game. Reminded me a lot of Goldeneye, and even though it was occasionally unpolished, I found myself craving it until it ended.

There's so much potential for making some great point-at-the-screen FPS's, but all we seem to get is shallow lightgun games. :(

What, you mean utterly derivative stuff like The Conduit? Yeah, I can get zillons of games like that for PC and still have better control (Mouse look > wiimote aiming).

Absolutely not.
