Out of all the Japanese franchises being handed over to Western developers, Silent Hill has suffered dramatically.
Meanwhile the likes of House of the Dead: Overkill and Metroid Prime were terrific. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow looks to be heading down that path too.
I do like the sound of this though:-
Quote:
Psyche!: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is watching you. It pays attention to the things you look at and how long you look at them, building a profile based on your behaviour. Stare at racy pictures often and soon the game's artwork takes on a saucy bent. An NPC police woman I met a little later on featured a sexy cop in a tight, unbuttoned shirt, which the player next to me had a much more mousy looking police woman show up in the same spot. It's a very nifty mechanic that should stir up a lot of conversation between players, comparing and contrasting their experience.

Why replace the hissing old radio with a goddamn PDA?

The relevance of that to replacing the static-ky old analogue radio with a PDA IN-GAME is what?
Goddammit, the new Punch-Out for Wii looks great.

I guess the relevance of the PDA would be interface minimalisation, we will just have to wait how the noise from the wiimote is explained, but from a gameplay perspective I like the idea.

You still haven't explained your previous response. What fucking relevance does the static being played through the Wiimote's speaker have with replacing an in-game object?
A PDA running a GPS application makes much more sense rather than dragging around a whole bunch of maps. Also the fact that the checking the map doesn't drag you out of the main experience is an improvement.
But replacing the busted old radio was pointless and killed one of the nice touches of the original games that added to the atmosphere and foreboding instilled by the series. A perfect digital device like a PDA having radio static makes no sense.

Must have misunderstood you, I thought you meant the hissing itself was replaced aka gone. My bad, please don't hurt me. Does indeed not make sense, maybe they will settle for a different solution, shouldn't be that hard.
AFter watching wideo again, I am becomming increasingly hyped up. The light/darkworld transition is the scariest in any Silent Hill game (of course imho), and the ice-hell looks extremely foreboding, and weird and most of all lonely.

I'd play it. My older cousin has a Wii, and I go see him every once in a while. Maybe I'll rent it one weekend that I am down home.

Nintendo has the global publishing rights to Fatal Frame 4/Project Zero 4 and they're just sitting on it, refusing to release it in North America nor Europe. Fuck those bastards to hell.
Holy shit, this is awesome. There's a (
http://zero4.higashinoeden.com/index.php5) fan translation of Project Zero 4, apparently it's 99% complete and will highly not require any modding of your console (soft nor hard) - just a legal import copy and a SD card. That's it, I'm going to buy my older sister's unplayed Wii off of her.

Why won't she just let you borrow it for a couple weeks?

She probably would actually, but I have like 5 or so Wii games but no console of my own. I've been using other people's machines. I figure I would be able to buy it cheaply off of her and then soft mod it for my own purposes (playing imports, Eg "uncensored" US version of No More Heroes).
