Whomever said that the Wiimote is accurate was talking out of their arse. Whenever I try to play House of the Dead: Overkill (great game, BTW) I have to hold the Wiimote on a +45 degree angle to aim properly with the cursor. No matter how many times I repositioned the sensor bar, it was always the same story.
Then there's the issue with movement lag, it sucks. The functionality of that MotionPlus addon should've been built into the controller from Day 1.

I've never played on a Wii, but a number of reviews of different games make it sound like the precision of the controller depends at least as much on the programming of the individual game as on the hardware. Can't say myself whether this is true or not, though.

That was me. Wiimote > keyboard/mouse you wouldn't believe what you can pull of in COD5. Haven't played house of the dead must a be a flaw in the game I heard there were some issues.

Try playing with the Sensitivity in the Wii Settings if you havn't already. It took me a little while to find the perfect setting for RE4 and Metroid, but havn't tried House Of The Dead though.

On a related note, don't you just fucking love it when changing mouse sensitivity affects the cursor in the game menu?
Or when you set it to lowest possible setting and you still can do a 720 without leaving the mousepad.

I am going to play a Wii for the first time in the next couple weeks. I just reunited w/my long lost cousin, and he has one. Can't comment on it yet, but I am anxious to try it out.

Are you repositioning the sensor bar and then calibrating it? Overkill has an in-game calibration that worked well for me.

Overkill's in-game calibration is there if you wish to play without the crosshair, making it more like a traditional lightgun game.

It's not a wii-mote issue. Aiming works just fine in RE4, and it worked just fine it Red Steel.
But house of the dead is a Sega game, and they've been pretty much useless for ages now.

The precision of the pointer definitely changes depending on the game. The menu cursor is shakier, probably because it factors in rotation. But metroid and red steel (the latter provided you have vibration turned off -- it's a glitch) are accurate.
