£47 million on the first day, in the UK alone. Christ. This franchise isn't going to burn out any time soon, people.

You mean the fourth mission of act 1, and it's called "no russian".
It's also not included in Russian release.

There seems to be a lot of negativity towards this game here. I understand the negativity associated with the PC version and all of its cut features, but don't forget that the game itself is TOTALLY FUCKING AMAZING, as was 100% expected.
I can't say how important it is that they finally fixed the goddamn grenades. Dodging the eight-hundred fucking grenades in the past games nearly ruined the entire experience for me. They've GREATLY reduced the number of grenades that are thrown at you so you can, you know, actually focus on using your gun.Quote Posted by nicked
Christ. A level where you gun down civilians and they give it a pun for a name. That's not stretching the boundaries of interactive storytelling, that's stretching the boundaries of taste.
No, it's called "No Russian". Unless THAT'S some sort of pun that I'm missing. It's a quote from the mission.

I would have gladly paid $60 for this if the SP campaign was as good as the previous game (or CoD 2) but it's sounding pretty damn weak.
Has anyone tried co-op yet? That seems to be the thing that might sway my purchasing decision.
The coop is a ton of fun, actually. It's separate from the campaign, but it's handled very well. I've only played a very small bit, though.

Really? I heard it's exactly like MW2, except the story is utter shit. Not that the story in MW was anything amazing, just your typical wednesday evening Steven Seagal flick - but in MW2 it's just downright retarded.
And everyone's bitching about PC version because it's an FPS.

Well I interpreted that as a play on "No rushing", but fair enough if it isn't. Either way, I won't be russian out to buy the game.

I thought it's short for "don't speak Russian", and it makes sense when it comes to the plot:
Makarov doesn't want people to know that he's killing his own compatriots, then he shoots the FBI mole at the end of the mission to blame Americans for the incident and start the war.

Looks like he's a console player ("or else expect to see everyone trade there mw2 for MAG or another competetive shooter"), in which case this is nothing new. Used to happen all the time in CoD4.
Hence why I said still being screwed over, I know that it's been an on-going issue in both CoD4 and WaW on the consoles.
You might have a lot of people playing the PC version now, but I imagine that the player count will begin to dry up within the next 3 months. The hardcore players will likely go back to playing CoD4 or even WaW, because of the greater number of features.
If they patch in dedi support and a server browser, I imagine it will be too little too late. First impressions of MP games are hard to forget and typically players (in general) aren't very forgiving at all. Just look at any major post-WoW MMO that had a botched launch (eg Age of Conan) or a FPS like UT3 or MoH: Airborne. The UT3 "Black" mega-patch that included the free Titan expansion pack and several Steam sales + free weekends failed to save that game. Ditto for the several GB in size patches that MoH:A received that overhauled the MP, including a dedicated server package.

Only 833 members? Come on, L4D2 got nearly twice that much in a week.
