I think the name Cube World is a work in progress... but basically it looks like Zelda meets Minecraft... in a strange way. The game uses voxels (I seem to recall anyway) and it has an undeniably attractive look. It has multiplayer and randomly generated quests. The quests as seen in the video are alpha, they should be more intuative and interesting when it comes around. Check out his blog for much newer screenshots and info.

I've seen this. It looks very promising. I'm also impressed that he refused the invite from Mojang. I think he'll be better off in the long run staying independent. It seems like we're entering an age of Indie games if we haven't already.

That looks very... lovely. It doesn't seem to be doing anything outstanding and yet it looks like it has way more charm than any of the other Minecraft copypastas.
That being sad, I do hate how the indie scene always seems to take the latest successful indie game and just copy it to oblivion. But at least we are (mostly) done with physics puzzles...

So... is there anything more to the combat than simply running towards an enemy and mashing the attack button?
nicked on 27/1/2012 at 06:52
It doesn't appear to be doing anything original. It's Minecraft with 3D Dot Game Heroes graphics and World of Warcraft "Kill x enemies" quests. It is kinda pretty, but I'm not seeing much gameplay to get excited about.

I couldn't be arsed didn't have time to watch the whole thing, but does it have terrain deformation? I'm assuming it must do, or else it's basically just an RPG-lite that looks like minecraft. If, on the other hand, it's minecraft with an RPG bolted on, that's awesome. I've always felt that a minecraftRPG would be spectacular, with things like "kill the leader of the orc tribe" being accomplishable via straight combat, or flooding the village by rerouting a stream and then picking him off with arrows as he tries to swim to you, or tunnelling up underneath the village and dropping him through to lava, or burying TNT under the ground, or whatever.
...well, I'd play it.

The only thing it has in common with minecraft is the randomly generated world and cubes, but in that case you could equally as much attribute that to any roguelike.
It's not going to have any block-harvesting and housebuilding, rather focus on crafting items like a regular rpg.
But you know, blocks = minecraft, no exception, and pixels = nintendo!
wonderfield on 28/1/2012 at 06:17
If that's 30 Hz video, it's an incredibly smooth-running game.
The Alchemist on 28/1/2012 at 16:48
It does have terrain deformation, it's pretty obvious if you watch the whole video. Also, there's also supposedly a building element to it, but not in the Minecraft sense.
Jesus you sad pricks and your semantics. It block/pixel based with terrain deformation and perhaps even some terrain gen, it's randomly generated, and it just the more or less look/feel/art style of a Zelda game. I love how this thread has half as many responses complaining about my description as it goes about the actual game. Get a motherfucking life.
Side note: The terrain also looks like its straight out of Minecraft. Blocky as a key, surely, but fuck sake, tell me (
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YbxGHVN8t2Q/Txm1LUQR4KI/AAAAAAAAAqE/t8yHBsnwkRI/s1600/04.jpg) this doesn't look straight out of Minecraft.
I'm in a bad mood this morning apparently so a big fuck you to all of you. At least -I'll- be enjoying the game.
Oh yeah, and here's your (

As a fuck you bonus, here's terrain deformation! (

And henke... the shield is there for a reason. (
http://youtu.be/jujKOju_MBM?t=4m15s) I suspect reasons involving blocking (You need YT Annotations on for that one. Id like to you know, actually show blocking and parrying, but you guys are a dense clusterfuck and might miss it). I dont know maybe it's a fucking kite. There are bows as well. How else do you want to fight your enemies?
If you really REALLY want to be a semantic prick about it, it looks more like Voxatron with swords. God I hate you people sometimes. Cheers! :)
