No, not another "will there be thief4" thread, but... - by Flux

I see a girl in that vid and hear a female voice-over. Apparently this is another one of those things that people can believe what they want. They kept it ambiguous by having Garrett not use the terms "lad" and "boy" or any gender-specifics. They may have intended to keep it ambiguous to keep give any sequel ideas more room. There's not a lot of difference between this child and Lauryl/Gamall. A thicker lower-lip and plumper nose, different clothes,
same voice.

I don't know what a "fu_king Chinese pilot" is, you'll have to tell us all what's it's like to be one

Garrett for thief 4...!

Does your version have a different VOICE-OVER? It's the same woman who does Lauryl! Besides, you are in a minority of people who think the child's a boy.

That surely is a girl...which worries me, to be honest. I consider amazons as somehow not reliable although I'd like to have some around. But they are just not real.

We're not talking about someone who's going to jump into battles armed from tip to toes. We're talking about someone who's going to be sneaky and agile. Reliability is not in thief's job description, either. :)

In the five, six years since that series arrived technology has changed significantly and we have to be careful - we don't want to create more of the same. Instead we've identified the features that can be transposed well onto new technology that arrived several years later.
I guess that means HDR, bloom, rag doll physics, shiny normal maps, plastic surfaces, speedtree, regenerating health system, and uncanny valley NPCs for Thief 4 then, huh? :p

Maybe Im too picky, but those pictures (and the videos themselves) always made me cringe. I really hated how exposed everyone was in Deadly Shadows, there was no question about what people looked like and there was, for me, a total lack of mystery, at least compared to the first two games. I know some of the mystery would have to be removed for the third, as it was about the Keepers, but at the same time, I felt they, and our hero, were not done appropriately.

I will counter that with:

We did our research to find out what worked well, what people enjoyed about it - especially the first game. The second was a success in the eyes of some, but had some ups and downs, so we've tried to identify what worked well in that game.
So they´re researching the PLAYER RESPONSE to the previous games and doing a selection of what is good and what is crap.
I´m pretty sure someone at Eidos looking at TTLG will have a clear idea that we don´t like atomic blue footprints, yoga ragdolls and arrow trails.
On the other hand NEW TECHNOLOGY will provide FM Makers with:
- AI that can climb ledges, take cover, flank your left side...
- Real-time lightning and shadows system better than TDS attempt
- Rope arrows phisic - Better animation - Better resolution - etc
Making future Thief gameplay even more immersive.
