That's right, you usually aren't, taffer. Speaking of asshattery, it's English.
Haha, awesome. Nothing like trying to correct someone in a condescending manner, only to make silly mistakes yourself.

Yeah, it'd be nice to get someone like Sledge or Purah or even folks from T2X on the project, wouldn't it? I'd also say TTLGers like Yandros, Otto, Christine, Sterlino, Schwaa, Eshaktaar, Morrgan, Sluggs, should throw their hat in the ring. Talk about the chance of a lifetime, working on the newest Thief game.

The best of the AI should be left for Expert. And Expert should be hardcore. It should be the "No way I´m going to complete it", it´s the stealth version of a Doom´s Nightmare difficulty. It´s supposed to scare newcomers but after they get experience at the Normal and Hard levels they will be happy to experience the big mode.
Creating AI that act as you describe is *tremendously* difficult, and requires enormous processing power on the client's computer to run smoothly. It's not like Doom3 where you just triple the hit points and damage values. Any company whose motive is to make a profit will not spend large amounts of time and energy to add features that only appeal to a very small number of people (hard core stealth gamers with super computers).

I get your point, but I think you are overstating our position. We're talking about what's already been done being pushed further. There are already a hundred games that have an Expert difficulty that most players can't beat without playing the game a lot or asking for tips. To refine my stance, I'll say Expert for the next Thief should require more expertise than the previous installments have needed, while Normal can stay the same, and Hard should be in the middle. Stealth games have been around long enough for another Thief to need to meet the increased skills of modern gamers. The gaming companies are fully capable of making games impossibly hard. Since we've had ten-year-olds playing Thief, it's safe to say Thief is not unusually difficult, and Normal level could stay where it's been.
Unless they will build an engine from scratch, or use an existing engine that resists the necessary modifications, they should be able to take similar features from other games they own and patch 'em in. This happens in companies where departments are allowed to share code.
In lieu of certain comments that pop up here and there, I'll state my opinion that I understand that they will go for maximum profit and a broader audience, lmake it for the console, and that Thief will suffer for it--barring a miracle. I'd rather they built it for the PC and ported it to the console, but....

I've got a bad feeling this could be console exclusive with no PC version. AAA titles for the PC seem to be dying out very quickly because of piracy.

It's in some people's interest to have you believe so, but it's an imprecise statement at best. For instance, I know of a new project for an "AAA" first person shooter, which has been contracted just a few days ago. It's going to be released on three platforms, with PC version being the primary one.

I seriously doubt it. They've already announced that Deus Ex 3 will come to the PC and they've made it very clear they'll try to fulfill the hopes of the hardcore fans of the franchise (even if that's virtually impossible). I'm sure they'll do the same with this "other" franchise at the same studio.

I think it will have a PC version.

Besides they do know that Thief has a significant mapping community. And a PC community adding more maps and gameplay for their product would be good for them.
And speaking about consoles...
Have you ever imagined playing Thief on a Wii !
Imagine the fun using your Wii to blackjack taffers :joke:

Wow, I'm getting flashbacks to 5 years ago. And look how
that turned out.
