Yup, that's technically correct, but in practice the two mean the same
Doesn't make the person saying it sound any less spasticated though

I think maybe he singled you out because you started with "I could care less..."
Exactly.
If you really didn't care one wee bit, then you wouldn't
fucking bother to post in a thread about thief 4! My first instinct would be "oh look, it's a thief 4 thread, who gives a crap..." and move on. Anyways, I was just messing with you, we don't need to fight...

Back on topic...
Deus Ex 3 is confirmed to have the Crystal Dynamics Engine, the same one used on "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend" and "Project: Snowblind".
People are also speculating that a possible Thief 4 will share Deus Ex 3´s engine (just like the original Thief and Deus Ex).
So...
Anyone ever played these games ?
Anything special to comment ? The lights ? Reflections ? The shadows ?
van HellSing on 3/6/2008 at 14:02
It's NOT the same engine used in Snowblind or Legend (which are different engines anyway), it's the version developed for the upcoming Tomb Raider game.

The original Thief and Deus Ex didn't share the same engine at all, they were made on completely different engines by separate companies. The first two Thief games were made on the Dark Engine, Deus Ex was on Unreal.
Thief Deadly Shadows and Deus Ex: Invisible War did share the same engine however....but they are far from being the original games.

Well it´s here on wiki and shack anyway:

It has been confirmed that the game will be developed using the Crystal Dynamics Engine, which was originally used for the games Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend and Project: Snowblind; the latter intended as a "tactical" version of the original Deus Ex initially titled Deus Ex: Clan Wars.

Eidos Montreal's recently announced Deus Ex 3 will use a modified version of the engine created by Eidos-owned sister studio Crystal Dynamics for Tomb Raider: Legend (PC, PS2, X360).
"We chose the Crystal engine because we plan to help develop this engine more and then share it back with the rest of the company,"
So it´s Crystal with some upgrades.
