This is literally driving me up the wall. I can't for the life of me figure out why there is no sound during my Thief cutscenes. Everything else in the game works fine. The movie files play properly through media player, they just don't play audio in the game.
I'm running windows 7 on c2d 8400 with an radeon 5770 and a creative x-fi. Any help will be greatly appreciated...even condescending advice!

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you obviously did not read my post.

Am I really the only one who has this issue? There has to be at least someone on here who has insight into this problem.
The game just isn't the same without sound in the cut-scenes. :(

Okay it seems like my extensive troubleshooting has finally yielded some results...
Disabling ALchemy allows the cutscenes to play with sound! Woo hoo! Unfortunately, now there is no sound in the game! This is like a crappy game of lights out. I don't think it's so greedy of me to want sound in both.
My new question: Is anyone aware of this issue and if so is there a work-around?

Have the same problem with T2. It does not happen with SS2 though.
I "solved" it by just save at the start of the mission, end game, deactivate alchemy, start game, load save, restart mission, watch cutscenes, ... you got the idea ;)
I did not found a more siutable workaround unfortunatly.
You might also try an older version of alchemy. I have the newest from january because with the previous version some games did not detect EAX capabilities.

That's pretty much what I've been doing. The game is worth the hassle.
I read somewhere that adding the ALchemy files to the MOVIES folder would help, but it didn't work for me...maybe give it a shot yourself?

It's odd that ALchemy's supported games list includes TG and TDS but not T2. I assume now that you know it plays a role, you've tried messing about with ALchemy's settings?

Sorry for the delay in response. I did try messing with ALchemy's settings, but to be honest I wouldn't really know where to begin. I can't quite figure out if it's the settings the need to be tweaked or if the cutscenes just can't utilize open AL.
