Just got back from seeing it. It was good! Very good. Not quite great though. It was a bit too Hollywood-ised for that. My main problem with it is that Tubal-Kain survives the flood and stows away on the ark. This felt like the result of some producer's need for a big ol' fistfight between good and evil at the end. I don't think the film needed that. I think the drama of what Noah will do after Ila gives birth was strong enough to carry the last bit of the movie. That bit aside, yeah, it was a good movie. Fantastic visuals, the kind of dark fantasy settings that look like something out of Dark Souls (or maybe it's the other way around and DS is like something out of the old testament). Good perfomances too. I was moved - MOVED! - by some of Emma Watson's scenes. I haven't seen the Harry Potters or any of her other stuff, but turns out this girl can act! But most importantly, it's simply a great story with a very good message.

Yeah I liked it. Said so in that other thread.

I saw this recently too, and though it was good also. Feel the same way about Cain finding a way on the ark at the end, it felt so forced, like they had to have their final boss fight or something. Overall it was good though, and the effects were good without being too overwhelming and CGI looking (no way around some of that). I though there'd be a lot more focus on the "collecting the animals" part, but that portion was very secondary, interestingly enough. Russell Crowe is an impressive actor, no matter what people may think of him. The rest of the cast was good too - and Emma Watson is pretty hot.
Can any bible thumpers out there who've seen it tell us how many liberties were taken with the original story? I'd be curious to know.

By "original" do you mean the King James Bible? Because that particular story has probably been through a heinous amount of mutations.
Glad you liked it Henke - I'd heard murmurings that it wasn't very good, but based on your review, I may take the missus to see it since she likes her some Jesus.

Forget it's origins and treat it like an Aranofsky sci Fi.

It's been through even more mutations than I thought if Jesus is in it!

I just meant she is Christian - downside of idioms. Christians tend to be interested in the rest of the bible too.
Looks like we might be off to see this tomorrow anyway :)
