I guess this'll make it obvious for those who somehow missed the Project Origin announcement. I'll be picking this up for sure.
I liked XP's gameplay better than the original's though.

I actually saw that in an internet ad just yesterday. Must be an extremely new development.

They definitely did a good job with upping the action, and making some nice little additions (slamming doors open with melee attacks was particularly cool :)
Hopefully that that kind of thing gets adopted in FEAR2.
A shame that the story elements in XP were so utterly rubbish and unsatisfying :/ Here's hoping that FEAR2 definitely does NOT follow suit in that area.

Rubbish and unsatisfying? While I wish there were more phone messages and whatnot, the main story was pretty awesome (what little there was of it.)

Monolith felt that the Sierra published expansions didn't meet their quality standards, so thus they aren't considered official canon. FEAR 2's timeline ignores them completely.

I'm well aware of that. I was responding to Shadowcat's complaint about XP's story. It may not be canon but I enjoyed it.

I had fun with Extraction Point, but the story was even worse than the original's, which was pretty Half-Life 2 calibre to begin with.
At one point in XP Alma protects the Pointman. Yeah, let's ignore the fact she did nothing but trying to off him in the original game, let alone earlier in XP (ie burning down the church).
