Now this is impressive. The BBC have got it SO right I can hardly believe it. - by SubJeff

I'm a grumpy old sod, no doubt about it, and I usually find myself laughing at/deriding all the idiocy and failure in the UK. I was fully prepared to see the Olympics become a shambles. I expected it. And I wasn't disappointed when the preliminary numbskullery emerged with G4S and so on.
But I went to Beach Volleyball last Saturday and had a spiffing time. It was well organised, security was a breeze, the atmosphere was fabulous and the matches exciting. Yes yes I was there to perv of course but in all honesty the cheerleaders were far finer than any of the contestants from where I was sitting, which was with the press. Highlights were mens SA vs USA because SA (who I support, natch) did far better than we expected, and womens USA vs Australia which was pretty epic. The US fans were damn right unsporting though, booing the opposition once or twice, and deserved a dashed good birching imho. Overall it was good entertainment though.
So I've been watching some events on internet TV via the BBC website and can I just say; fornicate me sidewards with a china teapot Jenkins, that is one cracking good site.
It's just so... well thought out and executed. I was watching some swimming (Ye Shiwen owning the pool in the 200m medley) and just what its how the who where the shit did this thing COME from? The site and the video player I mean, not the Chinese swimmer.
Round of applause for the BBC, what. Welcome to the future and all that.
I'm (almost) speechless.

Does anyone know how to get a live stream in the U.S.? They want us to have a cable subscription (which I don't want) complete with installation fee to be able to stream it through NBC. I'm checking out some torrents but it's a pain in the ass.

You are wanting to watch it live when it is on Dave? You can try, UStream.TV and Justin.TV

I just wish the sodomizing NBC network would get off the medal counting. Bunch of jingoistic atavistic nonsense. Cheer for the beauty of the best in the world striving to do their personal bests. Groan when they fall short. But who cares where they are from? That's just an accident of history. The work they put in to get to the Olympics was no accident. They all deserve praise and recognition.

Agreed (well, apart from the "sodomizing" bit). To even take part in the Olympics is a huge achievement and shiny medals for the first three in each event is an additional reward but all those that qualify deserve some recognition.

All the streams I've tried don't allow it in SE Asia. :erg:
Maybe either there's a Thai site that does it (not sure I want all Thai commentary even if it did), I have to use a proxy(?), I have to find an unsanctioned stream (and how long will that stay up?), or just download pirated videos (which are like a gig apiece, take a few hours I don't have online to download, and only for a few events)...
For heaven's sake, what does one have to do to legitimately watch the effing Olympics of all things and not feel like a criminal. It's supposed to be about the fraternity of humanity and all that mumbo jumbo, and then it's next to impossible to actually watch it unless you have a t.v. and are in the right country....

Wait, I thought we hated sports culture?
Bring me up to speed here, someone
