Yeah, I'm gonna have to call out this opinion as wrong, as I've played all of these games, and Observer is a tepid jump-scare-heavy bore with a few good ideas and not enough subtlety or talent applied to them. Comparing it to any of the good Silent Hills is like comparing a glass of flat and lukewarm Miller Lite to a pint of Guiness.

As charming as Gravity Rush 2 is, the difficulty is all over the place. Much of it is laughably easy at Normal, but I've just started a fairly early side mission that's almost impossible to beat, and the game's controls aren't precise enough to make this easier. It's a shame, because it's (temporarily) soured me on the game's charms.

I think I might actually drop Gravity Rush 2, at least for now. All the charm doesn't change that the balancing is all over the place. I'd be more okay with the difficulty spikes if the controls were tighter, but Kat is clumsy. That works for the character and the story, but it doesn't particularly work for difficult missions. I don't remember the first game being this iffy in that respect.

Yeah I also recently gave up and uninstalled Gravity Rush 2, unfinished (along with Horizon Zero Dawn). I liked the first game a lot, but the sequel just didn't grab me. :/

Yeh I found the first 2 chapters were very good, the last section definitely could have been trimmed down a lot. But there are some really cool moments once you get to the city areas. For some reason it really hit a sweet spot with me overall, I wish there were more games of this nature.

more games of this nature.
A few that come to mind in the "working man walking sim" category:(you're probably well aware of the first half of this list)
Firewatch - It's great!
Kona - It's ok.
(
https://store.steampowered.com/app/393750/POLLEN/) POLLEN - This is a sci-fi thing that kinda flew under the radar but was quite nice. Features a fantastic level of interactivity with the environment. It lets you operate cranes and stuff! And the ending is QUITE SOMETHING. I played it in VR, but you don't have to.
(
https://fabiandenter.itch.io/transmission-lost) Transmission: Lost - This is a very nice and FREE(!) little game. IIRC you're the maintenance man for a radio tower and weird shit starts happening. Well worth a play. Also the ending is QUITE SOMETHING.
(
https://whilefun.itch.io/get-hoisted) Get Hoisted - Not a walking sim at all, unless you count walking around a mechanic shop a "walking sim". But if you enjoy games where you're just a guy doing a job then this fun and free taxi-mechanic sim will scratch that itch.

Just started playing Wolf II: TNC, and I must say big giant fuck you to all those supposedly mature childhood sections. Making me shoot the helpless dog, or the game just stops isn't mature, it undermines the whole thing and ruins the immersion. If you don't know how to be mature with such themes, then just leave them out, instead of holding me hostage to cheap thrills.
