It gets better as well.

Finished the East Wind campaign for ArmA III. It was actually pretty fun, although I think that's because they seem to have nabbed most of the good bits from Cold War Crisis. The scouting missions in the second act were good, although I did way more of them than I needed to before realizing that their purpose is supply gathering and that they don't impact the campaign otherwise. It was nice sticking to one character through the whole thing. Putting on NV goggles and sneaking through the woods is as fun as ever, maybe moreso since you can shoot lights out now.
Time to start the Apex campaign, then I suppose I'll have to grab the second DLC pack so I can tackle the other ones.

Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami done, and while both have their rough edges (Kiwami's first boss fight being a
very rough edge that sets the tone for how tedious the fights can be), they're both solid in almost every department that counts, from the combat to the setting to the pumped up twists, conspiracies, and melodrama of the main plot. (Though I skipped out on most of the mini games, so feel free to counter if you feel they're not great.) Even the sub-stories are great, and I'd even say they're the best part of Y0. (YK is a remake of the very first Yakuza game, so most of its sub-stories are disappointingly simple, but a fair few still carry some very entertaining moments.)
But really, what sets them apart is the sense of place. The map isn't very big, but across both games you gain an intimate sense of the city you're running around and breaking jaws in, and there's just so much charisma and flavour to it, from the different NPC walking animations on the streets to the attention to detail in both time period and culture. It's possibly the most Japanese game I've ever played, and it
feels authentic, even though I've never been to Tokyo. I'm sure someone who has been can weigh in on the authenticity, but everything about the streets and buildings and people seems to slot in just so. It feels like dipping almost completely into a different culture with the most experienced of tour guides at the helm.
It's fun, gross, weird, violent, charming, and sexy all at once. Every once in a while, there's a questionable cultural stereotype or sexist thing I shake my head at (again - this seems authentically Japanese), but it eventually makes up for those missteps by having a good heart. I hope the entire series lands on PC soon enough.
Rating: 8.5 surprise frenemey pole dance routines out of 10.

I played the first couple hours of Homefront: The Revolution. It was panned as a buggy mess on release, but since I'm a sucker for openworld stealth-action and I figure it's probably been patched up a bit by now I gave it a whirl. The open world exploration and combat are decent enough, in it's better moments it's reminding me of Dying Light. Your main mode of transport are dirtbikes, which are zippy and well suited for navigating through the cluttered cityscape. There's still bugs here and there, but nothing gamebreaking so far. Game looks pretty though. Writing and characterization are pretty dumb.
So far, so... decent. I'll play a bit more and see how it goes.

Almost done with replaying Arkham City. While I agree with those who say that Arkham Asylum is more focused (mainly due to not being set in an open world), I think that the plot gives AC more of a focus than AA had. It's by no means a great plot, but there's a sense that something is happening, that all of this is heading somewhere. To my mind, that's much less the case with AA, which basically just goes through one villain confrontration after another.
After this one I'll get back to Hitman, though. It's weird: I like the new Hitman games a lot, but after each mission I feel that I've had enough for a while. It's not the kind of game where I just play that one more or less exclusively until I've finished it. In that respect, I fully agree with those (like Malf, I think) who felt that the episodic release of Hitman (2016) actually worked pretty well with what the game is.

I've been playing a little indie game called Zombie Night Terror, which is what happens when you take the classic Lemmings formula and apply it to a zombie apocalypse.
Instead of using skills to guide dumb lemmings safely to the exit, you have to use a combination of mutations to help the brainless zombies wreak havoc, kill and infect humans, and generally spreading their apocalypse.
Any cute and harmless skill for a lemming becomes something frightening for a zombie. Exploding zombies! Jumping zombies! Running zombies! Wall-climbing zombies!
Low-fi pixel graphics, almost entirely in black and white apart from the blood, with good use of sound to create an atmosphere.
It's also filled with tons of horror film references, tropes and cliches.
I'm liking it so far. I had looked at some other Lemmings-inspired games, the most recent being something called Spirits, which was really slow-paced and relaxing, which just ended up feeling boring. Zombie Night Terror manages to keep it interesting through good presentation, interesting skills, and a somewhat faster pace of action (while still allowing you to pause at will when you need to time things carefully.)

That looks cool. Wishlisted.

Picked up
Everspace (which is 75% off right now), getting serious Rogue Legacy vibes from this. Die early, die often, upgrade your ship between runs. ...Why is this the only title in my Steam library that feels the need to have the "tm" superscript?

I started playing Metro Exodus over the weekend. I'm not all that far yet, but while it's a gorgeous, atmospheric game in terms of its aesthetics, I'm somewhat taken aback by how much it railroads you (no pun intended... well, some pun intended, maybe) on a moment-by-moment basis. For the first hour or so at least, so much of the game consists of you being stuck in place while other people talk around you. I'm kinda hoping that there'll be more of a game before long, because I'm not a huge fan of its barely interactive theatre so far. (I'll also have to find out how to switch the voice acting to Russian, because the heavily accented English dialogues are pretty badly acted.)
