The bandit/authority AI reminds me a bit of FEAR. They talk to each other...
All the bandits do this too and it's pretty cool how contextual it all is. The Gearheads(?) would say things like "He's got sentry bots too" and I had a particularly hilarious instance where one enemy said "Watch out, wingstick" and ducked which led to his buddy behind him coping it in the face. The game is packed with little details like this and it's one of the things I loved about it.
Anyway, I've been working through the games I picked up in Steam's Halloween Sale.

Costume Quest - Very much a Tim Schafer game; less than perfect mechanics (this time a lite-JRPG) married to an utterly charming world populated with winning characters. Nothing innovative or deep but an extremely pleasant way to pass 5 hours.
*
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened - Falls prey to a lot of the adventure game genre pitfalls (obscure puzzles, pixel hunting, some dodgy voice acting) but the plot, Holmes getting embroiled in a Lovecraftian conspiracy, is fantastic and the writing is quite good and even with the dated tech, the first person perspective (complete with shooter style controls) makes for a more immersive experience than the norm for the adventure genre. I'll definitely be checking out some of the other Holmes games this developer had put out.

The Binding of Isaac - I haven't been that enamoured with much of Ed McMillen's previous output, I've admired it from afar, but this is something else. Brilliantly designed, surprisingly deep and hideously addictive, this disturbing little game is now my current GOTY by a wide margin, which considering what has come out this year, is no mean feat.

Started Red Dead Redemption last night. I like the spin on the usual western by putting it at the turn of the century, with the emerging new technologies like cars. I'm starting to notice that "things change" is a possible theme of this game, where life out in the West is becoming something different from what it was. One of the US Marshals was talking about how when he first started on the job, people from a neighboring county were considered exotic; now they can have people from the Midwest get there in six days.

I definitely have to say that I was the same. Whilst Uncharted is certainly good, I just couldn't get into it, despite playing it through to the end. inFamous on the other hand I absolutely loved, even though it does get a bit repetitive at times.
Have you played just U1? If yes, try U2 then, you should be impressed and immersed.

Man, I think I need a bigger TV. Trying to play RDR on the one I've got is a nightmare.

STD? It's nearly impossible to play it on STD TV.

Have prices for big screen LCDs also gone down like crazy in the States? Here they're practically throwing good 32" and 40" TVs after you...

Ain't nothing as pleasurable as feeling the corners of your lips sag downwards as you realise you've got a stuck pixel on your new bazillion-inch wonder and washing it down with a glass of frame interpolation to combat the motion blur.

The problem is, I have no money to buy one, certainly not one that (
