And it's a 3 year old system. Apparently 8800's in general, including the later models (mine's a GT) are notorious for going to shit. Worst case scenario I end up with a better GPU and then just get a new mobo next time I have money. It's not like my immense backlog is going anywhere.

Yep, that's pretty much exactly what happened to my 8800GTS last year. It had a good run though, so I keep it on my shelf now. Also because it looks sweet.
