Planescape Torment Spoiler:
First life of the nameless one was a total dick and realized he's going to go to hell and he doesn't really have enough time to turn his life around. So he made a deal with the old hag thing you were about to meet to become immortal. The hag hovewer, as usual, screwed him over and he loses all his memory every time he dies. Fast forward few thousand years and here you are.
Not exactly mindrape, is it?
Bah. Yea I kinda figured half of that out, particularily
you being a dick in previous lives and atoning/making up for it.

Planescape definitely gets worse once you leave Sigil (at least from what I remember), but the game doesn't drag on too long at that point.
I've noticed in other games that I have become lazier than I used to be when it comes to reading game text, but I'm not skipping paragraphs in this one. As far as I'm concerned, the writing is significantly better than in the vast majority of RPGs. Yes, Bioware, I'm looking at you. (IMO Bioware, while still one of the better devs in that respect, still manage writing that on average is adequate rather than good. And sometimes it's downright painful - at this point, if anyone uses the word "Enchantment!" around me I'm likely to shove my office chair up their backside.)

The main plot of PST isn't brilliant but that's not what the game is remembered for anyway. It's all about the story being personal rather than an epic quest, the existentialist overtones, the grounded-in-D&D-but-still-highly-odd setting, the subversion of many RPG tropes, and especially, at least for me, the interactions between characters.
Planescape and KotOR II were two of the only RPG's I've played where talking to the NPC's in your party actually feels like a conversation and not a "check off all the boxes" sub-mission. Mask of the Betrayer/Alpha Protocol and to a lesser extent the main NWN campaign were good for that too, although I tended towards manipulation more than roleplaying my character (I didn't do that in KotOR II even though it had the Obsi-influence system because the NPC's were written well enough that their motivations weren't always obvious).

On my way home today I got a certain familiar craving, that "tingling" idea regarding calling an old hookup. I followed my training and decided to go for evasive action: get to Gamestop, asap.
So there I was at Gamestop, fighting a drug itch, with disposable income in my pocket.
So anywho.
I came home with a few extra games.
Now I have more games to play (that I actually - want - to play) than I've ever had... I think ever.
Skyrim takes up a good majority of my time. Even after over 100 hours in, it does not fucking end.
Battlefield 3 is a great competitive team based shooter I play with my friends.
I'm replaying MGS2 (and later MGS3) in the HD Collection, and I forgot how good these games were.
I have Ico and Shadow of The Colossus in HD, which I -will- replay, but its nice just to fucking have them, being gaming works of art.
I now have Mirrors Edge, so that I can finally beat that. I always thought the game was rather refreshing, but I never got around to playing it.
I picked up Rage, which is currently -still- installing onto my PS3. I know it didn't turn out all that great but out of principle alone (and the Doom anniversary having just passed) I had to buy it to support id.
And lastly: I picked up Demon's Souls. For two reasons, really. First, I want to finally BEAT this game before I move on to Dark Souls, and secondly, I have a goddamn awesome OP magic character that is incredibly fun to play, and having heard magic has been nerfed in Dark Souls, I want to revel in that before I succumb to the masochism.
And thats that.

I want a detailed journal of your exploits in Demon's Souls.
