timeslip, if you read this,
just trying out your ddfix version 1.3.10. It seems that now textures a bit farther away take some time to render, they stay a tan colour unless I get closer. I can't remember the earlier version doing that (but I may be wrong)?
Only alpha'd textures should be doing that. (i.e. the water, mainly.) What texture are you trying to replace? Did it work with an earlier version of ddfix, and if so what version?

and a second question, if you fixed the direction of the rendering for tga, its no use for me to provide dds textures actually... the mipmaps are then created in-game?
Yes, they'll be generated automatically in game. It'll take some time, but since the filesizes are smaller the decreased number of disk accesses more or less makes up for it.
The only issue is that if you need the direction flags then the files are stored upsidedown on disk, and need to be shuffled about in memory to get them the way around that DirectX expects. That will cause another speed hit, although probably nothing serious. (If you open and resave the tga's with microsofts file format conversion tool, it'll automatically save the image the right way around. Might be worth doing if you already have it installed.)

thanks for the quick answer
- the tan texture was with a normal ground eture, i'll make a screenshot, I don't have version 1.3.9 anymore so I can't check!
- I'll check the speed with the tga version and see if it makes a difference
- the microsoft tool comes with the directx developers install? (like dxtex?)

definitely make one, and post its in-game location (if it's not obvious from screenshot), so we can test it ourselves.
ps thanks for 1.1 - will test later
EDIT:
tested the 1.1 installer: it now writes files to specified directory, doesn't try to write to c: root any more. Darkinst.cfg modification goes well as well, even with relative paths (if the file has got expected number of lines, that is) Overall: :thumb:.
ps high-res grass, please ;)

here is a picture:
Inline Image:
http://home.planet.nl/~ek000114/gotcha/img/Capture-2.jpgyou can see the tan area where the texture doesn't display, when I approach it it is filled in and behind me it disappears again, so it seems a distance thing. This only happens so far at this level (eavesdropping)

Just a question if anyone knows: is it possible to view the high-res textures with an NVidia FX 5600 or is this one not capable?
I couldn´t load the textures with the 1.0 installer but will try it again with version 1.1, but I was just wondering if it may be my video card...
Thanks!

I assume you have installed ddfix.dll and changed your thief2.exe ?
else you have to download that from (

The textures should be in \thief2\res\ddfix\ntex
the file ntexdds.crf should be in thief2
my darkinst.cfg looks like this:
Code:
cd_path C:\gms\iso\thief2\
install_path ..\
language english
resname_base .\NTEXdds+.\EP+C:\gms\Thief2\res
load_path ..\
script_module_path ..\
movie_path ..\movies
