NTEX high-res texture pack version 1.3 for Thief 2 (and normal texture version 1.12) - by thief_gotcha

Guys, the textures in NTEX 1.3 are high-res - that's the reason the package is bigger than the old NTEX 1.12, despite the fact that there are only half the number of textures. Also, you need ddfix to use the high-res version, which is possibly why it isn't working for you.
I've never tried, but I imagine they would work together, with the updated high-res ones overriding the old ones where applicable.

Thief_gotcha & the Others
I have the same questions:
1) What's the diffrence?
2) How can I be sure, that I have the v1.3 on my computer?
3) How can I check it or compare with the old ones?
4) Can the "normall" and "high res" work together?
BTW:
- The v1.12 pack works without any problems. If I deactivate it (delete the NTEX.crf in Darkinstall.cfg) I see the original textures.
- The v1.3 pack dosen't work. If I activate it (Darkinstall.cfg), I don't see the high resolution textures. What's wrong?
Hi. I managed to install and see the ntex hi-res textures v1.3 So this is the version with hi-res textures. Here's what I did: Firstly I only installed ntex hi-res v1.3, without the enhancement pack. In the install process choose your game root path. Don't let the default one. I installed my game in a folder ''ttma'' but the installer chose by default thief2 which isn't my path. After install open ddfix with notepad, scrolling down you'll see a line like this
;Turns on the 32 bit texture loader....
;autodetection. boolean
;texturereplacement=0
;replacement texture path....
;texturepath=res\ddfix\
Change this lines like this
;Turns on the 32 bit texture loader....
;autodetection. boolean
texturereplacement=1
;replacement texture path....
texturepath=res\ddfix\
so you need to remove the '';'' from those lines. This activates the comand, and setting texturereplacement to 1, enables the comand
This is all. Start the game, click new game and after the game starts look to your left and down at the grass and alley, you'll notice the high-res textures.
Enjoy
P.S. I have installed ddfix 1.5.11

Umm... I thought that all versions of NTEX had high-res textures. That's kind, y'know, the entire point of the mod.

Matter of degrees, isn't it? Good...better...awesome...

Well then, I eagerly await the high-res version of NTEX to be released in a few years to replace the currently adequate high-res version, and of course the woefully outdated high-res version.

Is it possible to use a transparent background with .dds files in Thief? For example for plants and tree textures like this here (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138722) Daraan's Tree Collection V1.0?
If it isn´t....is there a way to use the "Daraan's Tree Collection" in Thief Gold? Because around the leaves of the tree there is the color black what should be a transparent background...
EDIT: Okay it´s done!! I used this (

Can somebody rehost the ntexdds13.exe files, the old links are dead, and the only one I was able to find was corrupted.
