I wont be able to start on this again for some weeks, too busy with work....

The screens are looking great! :thumb:
But I think there will be problems if I use your pack together with thief_gotcha's pack. Maybe you could work both on the same project? If not I will use the best one...

One thing - you fall into the trap that many retextures have - your new brickwork is far too "perfect", square and flat, unlike the weathered, smooth, hobbledy cobbledy style of thief.
look at the gate brick textures on city gate from the examples in your post to see what i mean

I think the differences of the two textures aren't so big at all, but that is a problem that also John-P encountered: Dirty textures look more dirty when they're blurry. However, since the blurry TDS textures are still at least as sharp as the better TDP/TMA ones, it might indeed be an issue of the right texture itself and not the general style/scaling. Or an issue of getting used to it.
But if you have found the guy who would take all the work of re-doing all the textures with scaling etc., just make suggestions, point to resources and make TMA look better.

After all, this is just an experiement. To check if it works at all and if it is useful at all. There're still some problems with shadowing, don't know where they come from (maybe from the new texture pack?).
I'm also not yet satisfied with all textures and at the moment mostly took some, that at least look similar. But if you have others that you think fit better, feel free to send them to me.
I think, the cave stuff already looks good. I also think about making new water, but so far I can't think of a source where to get new "highres" textures...

I'm not sure about some of those changes, some of them change the scene - for example the now 'clean' brickwork on the floor by the gate instead of cobbles - it's an old market square - cobbles are more realistic to me. It's the same with the Precious Cargo pic - the wall looks now like a new cave where you wouldn't find diamonds, and the dug out area now looks like it doesn't belong with the cave wall as you've changed the colour (now predominantly yellow-green).
The pagan scene does look like real improvement now.

hi child of Karas, interesting, if you start remaking the mission files, the possibilities are far greater, and texturing can be much better. Most of the problems come from the 256 colours, if we could have true colour textures I am sure I could make them look much better, even at the original resolution.
I have high res water series that will make moving water but I didn't obtain them ... ehm ... in the correct way, and although this is a thief game I shouldn't really use them... ;)
I don't mind you using this thread as long as it is clear to whom the comments apply, to avoid confusion.
anyway, the version of NTEX is upped to 1.12, still at the "kidnap" mission but I redid some walls and bronze metals. I almost forgot how much fun this is. Thanks for taking an interest everyone.

You (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120645) can, to some extent. World textures are the easiest to replace, and have the added advantage that they use the size of the original texture for scale calculations, so you don't have to modify the mission files.

Ok I unzipped both files into my Thief2 directory, and my darkinst.cfg looks like this:
cd_path .\
install_path .\
language english
resname_base .\EP+.\NTEX+.\res
load_path .\
script_module_path .\
movie_path .\movies
But when I go into the game none of your new textures show up (EP is working though)
