Actually I knew that, but copy pasted it from a lyric page without noticing it anyway. I'll fix it.
I don't think it's silly at all. I've been to more than a few places where I thought the whole vibe of the place could reach transcendental & humbling heights... Camping overnight out in the Negev desert, or when I lived on my little volcanic island, Tsushima, especially when a taifun passed over and the full wrath of the heavens rained down... I just couldn't pass up the zing op, sorry.

Could I get an official source for that lyric correction? Haven't found a site on the internet yet that says it's "like a lepress". In fact, any place I've seen "lepress" mentioned says it's a misheard lyric.

My ears are my only source.
Here's a couple of pics from the family album. My father in Africa sometime between 1960 and 1970. I don't know where it is but there is something about these old pics.

I can just imagine Ducky crawling around in the flowers to take a picture.

It's called a shishi-odoshi (literally "deer scare").

That's a boar scarer... er... er...
They are supposed to frighten off wild boars. If you didn't see any boars, then it is still working.
Did you come down to Victoria too? We have had lilies and hyacinths and daffodils for well over a month now. The cherry trees are losing their petals but the magnolias are just coming in to bloom. There are tons of them around Vancouver. They should be in full riot in a week or so.
Sorry, the rest of Canada. It's just the way it is.

That and the 12 foot fences, keep the deer away. I used to do tours out there and we saw deer trying to sneak in all the time. The Columbia Black tails aren't scared of much.
