Hello!
I have kinda big request for anyone who is interested in helping me out on this. I need whole lot of combat robot bodyparts.
Basically what i need in my fm is robot built from objects, which can be taken apart. The parts we now have are only few damaged ones which i can't really use since i need those as they are aswell.
Objects i request may use original combat bot skin and no higher detail, than it is on living combat bot, is required.
List of parts i need:
- feet (both left and right + the gear)
- leg (that grey metal piece between the gears)
- thighs (L and R + the gear)
- both full legs as separate objects
- boiler
- head
- shoulders (gears of the elbows attached to these)
- mechanic arm
- cannon
If someone were to help me on this, i would suggest to publish it to the whole community. I think there are others who might find combat robot parts handy aswell.
Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to think where I found it, but I had a full 3D model of one of the combat bots. We couldn't modify it, because it needed the new meshbld. It didn't have limit planes, but somehow segmented the parts since none of them "stretched", just rotated and translated.
Check around in the object and mesh folders, see if there is a bot .E file - which you can turn back into 3DS. Or see if bintoe can convert the robot mesh.
Once you have that, you can extract ALL of the parts as separate 3D objects and retexture them, or whatever you want.
When I get home tonight, I'll try and see if I can find the file.

Would it be possible to get the parts from original broken robot model (the one which is just turned off), comdown.bin, rather than from AI model.
I have no idea how to operate anim8or or how the converting is done, which is why i'd like someone with skill to do it.

If I can find the file, I'll break it into components for you.
Do you want non-broken parts? How about the textures? Or should it just look like individual robot parts?

Individual robot components should do.
In the mission the parts are going to be placed in machine that builds robots out of them, so it would make sense if they are using the exact same texture that the combat bot uses.
If it's not too much to ask, i would actually like the parts to have separate texture file from the original robot texture so i can adjust them without affecting the original objects, but ofcourse if something like that is too much of hassle, i'll be more than happy to just have the parts.

Couldn't you replace the broken-down looking texture with a copy of the good texture?
That's all they did when they created the texture for the broken bits. Workbot2.gif and WorkbotD.gif are the same base texture.

No, because i need the battered and broken looking parts too.

The original combot head model is cbhead.bin
Make a copy of it and name it giga-cbhead.bin or whatever. Then open Notepad++ or a hex editor and change the texture to either point to workBot2.gif or to a copy of that image if you want to edit the image as well. Now you have a clean head model and a dirty head model. And make another copy of the dirty pieces if you don't want to use any original models at all. You can then also mess around with the size and shape of the pieces to try and mimic any other pieces of the bot that are missing.

Then there's a second problem, there's no all of the robot parts. There's only arm, foot, head, boiler and thigh.

I mentioned you can try and resize the bits that are there and make them into something resembling the parts that are missing. You can also try using bits from the other robots. And then point them to the correct texture too. For instance, PhysAttach a couple gears to the WorkRobot Claw object and it'd make a good copy of the greyish robot leg section.
