After all, the best part about being a h4rdc0r3 gamer is not beating the games, but showing everyone online that you did.

fucking joke.

That's what pirates are for, dear Koki.

Personally I've been using the word as an umbrella term for any discrete scoring system ...

I agree with Dussander, Mothra, and most others here: most achievements are useless, and if there are going to be any for Thief they must mean something. not "you made it through mission 3!" or "eat 5 apples!" but things like "zero kills (full game)", "ghost (no alerts)", "sharp eye (90% of all loot)", beneficent (complete all helpful optional objectives)", "spiteful (complete all vengeful optional objectives)" and the like. some fun ones, too, like "exterminator (kill 25 rats)" or something would be alright - things that can be done while enjoying the game, not a chore to complete just for the achievements.
they shouldn't pop-up during the game, but maybe have a list accessible from the menu screen? I don't have a console to play it on, and I'd rather not have to play through Steam, so a local list would be nice to keep track of what I've done (instead of showing off to others on the service.)
while we're talking about it, though, check out (
