OK guys I'm still working through making my first Tutorial Mission. I'm on to doing the objectives now.. Anyway one thing I'm wondering about is while in the Editor I launch into the Game with Alt G the lighting appears to be all off. OK i have shadows and Garretts visibility Gem shows when he is in the dark or not but the dark isn't dark enough and the light areas are too large as i have only placed 2 torches in 1 room. Also furniture and guards are really bright and aren't in shadow at all :/ Is something amiss or am i missing something ? Maybe this gets rendered after the Mission is built ? A link to a more in depth tutorial on lighting would be useful.

Shadows can be made darker by lowing the ambient light. Via the menu it's Tools > Ambient Light. RGB 20, 20, 20 is a typical value.
With the objects you probably went to View > Toggle Lit Objects, so do it again. That doesn't do terrain. The other one, Toggle Lighting, does everything.

Ahh thats much better now. Thanks Soul. The 'Area' still looks a little bright considering some rooms have no light in them at all. I would expect some areas to be Pitch Black ! Even the room with 2 torches while there are shadows it easy to see into them ! but if I hide in some of the shadows the light gem is completely dark ! Seems a little imbalanced. Is htere a gamma test or brightness test for monitor to help calibrate this perhaps ? Or am i again missing something ?

You may have to adjust your ambient light settings. Editors>Mission Parameters>Rendering Parameters

Also, after changing the ambient light setting, you need to relight the mission (Ctrl-R). You should also put a finite radius on all your light sources, many are radius 0 (infinite) by default.
