You do a lot of looking around in Thief. And leaning. Both of which would work well in VR. It's also a slower paced game, which helps with the motion sickness problems. It seems ideal!

Most openGL games are not playable in 3D with any current 3D system.
Doom 3 BFG is an exception which does run in 3D because Doom 3 BFG has in-game support for several 3D openGL modes.
(original) Doom 3 does not currently work in 3D with either AMD, TriDef, Nvidia, or iZ3D.
Anyone who makes original Doom 3 run in 3D, on any current 3D system, will become a hero in the 3D community.
