Erm. . .in browsing the sounds from TG - I ran across this file
Sfx/Stoface1.wav - "Stay away from my face, thief. Or you'll be sorry."
 Anyone have a *clue* what that was all about? I don't recall it being used in game. . .although, I am sure I have not heard everything there is to hear. It sounds a bit robotic, and there aren't robotics in TG (that I caught, at least).
Any conjectures on what it might have been meant for?

I think that's from Down in the Bonehoard. There's a talking face in a pit along with a couple of gems. If you're not careful, the face gets annoyed and starts shooting at you.

Exactly. The face is carved into the wall above a pile of bones and gemstones. When you approach, it warns you to stay away, and it starts spewing magic bolts if you come close enough to grab the gems.
The face can be found somewhere up inside the tall, cylindrical catacombs. It takes a bit of exploring to find it, but it's there.

Ooh. Something I have missed in my explorations.
Granted thats a big place and I tend to get turned around fairly easy. lol Even after playing four times I still tend to stumble on my objectives more by chance than having a clue where I am.
But I see I shall have to go in and explore some more. :)
Thanks!

sounds from TG? where are they? they are not on CD, they are not in game catalogue, i cant find them!
(perhaps a nooby question, but ive played through TG and T2 and still only found movies, but no sounds&textures)
Elentari on 11/9/2006 at 18:56
Sounds, textures, text, images are all in the CRF files in the game directory. For TDP, TG and TMA all you have to do is open them like you would open any .zip file, extract them out and browse them to your heart's content.
However, if you have the downloaded version of the game (The one you pay 20 bucks for after an hour demo), this doesn't work. I don't know why. I have that version too and it seems to be changed so you can't access the crf's, nor can you run fan missions, etc. (rather sucks, IMO. You sort of get cheated. *sniffs*) But yeah, if you have the regular version, you can unzip the crfs and see all sorts of funky things. :)

Try the THEIF MEDIA EDIT from The Circle Editors Guild.
The sounds etc. are in the CRF files.

wow thanks a lot people, its a lot of listening coming up now.
EDIT:
one question tho, why are there burrick sounds in thief2 snd.crf if there is not a single burrick in thief2?

my guess is they were probably meant to be in one of the unused levels that was supposed to be in T2 gold before it got canned. probably the one involving the necromancer.
do yourself a favour and buy yourself a legit, hard copy of thief gold. they're still out there. i got my spare copy through amazon.

Yeah, I'm working on that, deathtoll. I did manage to buy myself a new copy of TDP and a spare of TMA for like 2 bucks each through amazon, but TG every time I go look is 30+ (plus shipping, plus exchange. . .) and money's too tight for that at the moment. (I am currently unemployed) I'm looking when I have money in my pocket to do it with and not when I don't. :)
Maybe I'm benig too picky. But I SERIOUSLY prefer new copies to used. (although my current T2 version is used, so I don't know why I'm complaining. Then, I didn't exactly buy that, either. . .it came with my friend's sound card and he lent it to me. . .then just gave it to me when I kept it for so long and kept playing it. lol)
But yes, I am in the market for an inexpensive hard copy of TG.
