Movies and menus run very well, but after I start a mission the colors and textures all around me take on a rainbow appearence (like a kaleidoscope) and the game crashes. Thief Gold ran fine, does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Dunno, sounds pretty weird. I've been having the same problem, actually! It might be the video card, ReInstalling it would help (but i suppose you've done that), or maybe you have to live with the stone cold truth that running Thief and Thief 2 on Windows 2000/Xp really sucks!

I can't help with the "rainbow" problem but I and many other people run Thief with XP with no problems at all so I wouldn't blame it on the operating system.
