...is what I'd like to say but honestly, that's not a bad list. "Not bad" in the sense it's such a goddamn parade of mediocrity and blandness I can't even bring myself to care. A bunch of console games("Best PC Game" winner being a punchline to the joke of not a single PC game being there) competing in 'Most Cinematic Experience In A Videogame' and 'Dollars Per Hour Played Ratio'.
I can't even ramble about some jRPG winning "Best RPG" or something.
Fuck you Spike TV. Fuck you.

who cares ? I watched the promo trailers afterwards on gametrailers and don't even know who won what or was nominated for whatever. The VGAs are the equivalent of MTV awards (spike-gametrailers are all MTV subsidiaries) which just like the Oscars are well known for having no value at all if you consider yourself a serious artist or developer. It's just for the industry to pat their own backs, pretending that top dollar == top game, a kind of self-justification and circle-jerk. Every major industry has events like that. It creates more interest, publicity, dollars.

I am totally fine with the ps3 and wii awards, have yet to play the new Mario-game but the wii had a horrible year. Uncharted 2 is the mana from the gods it's awesome, I would have given best rpg to Demon Hearts though.

Wait, what's wrong with those awards? I probably wouldn't have chosen Dragon Age as PC game of the year, but it's not a bad pick. It's not like they picked MW2 or some console port.
Edit: Ok, the only award I find slightly shit is DJ Hero beating Beatles Rock Band for best game soundtrack. I mean, this is basically the one year in gaming history when I figured everyone could at least agree on that.

It's even worse. At least the Oscars bollocks relies on its own industry to provide the prime red-carpet material. With Spike's VGAs what you get is a bunch of second-rate "celebrities" from other industries coming around and showing off their massive hipness with getting involved in videogames. Just skim GT's videos - you don't get a Spector or a Garriot, or, hell, a Riccitello, leading the hostilities, you get washed up musicians, actors, or sportsmen or any other desperate have-beens/never-beens they can drag up.
