Does anyone have any idea how to capture the background animations on the official DS site here: (
http://www.eidos.co.uk/gss/thief_ds/) ? I think they are flash, but I can't seem to get them no matter what I try.
And before anyone hits the roof over me trying to get them. . .consider this. The north american site is already gone. I'd like to get these before they are gone too. I really like them and would like to add them to my collection of thiefy odds and ends. I also thought it might be cool to put as an animated wallpaper on my desktop (assuming it does not come with the sounds, obviously If it does. . .well, never mind that particular idea! If it has the sounds I'd just like to pull it out and look at it along with the other stuff in my collection. :) ).
I can get the 'index.swf' file, but it basically just holds the logo and the menu (which doesn't work once I download it.) But I can't seem to get the middle part that holds the six animations that I like.
Anyone have any clues how to rescue these before they vanish into the ether along with the north american site?

No ideas, huh? Drat. What a waste.

I wish I knew more there to help you, but you could always save the entire webpage as a last resort. Then you could always remember it the way it was designed in the first place. So there really is no waste after all. :)

I tried that already. At least with the 'file saveas' option in two different browsers. Neither of them will capture more than the base html file and teh 'index.swf' file, leaving, again, that middle part missing.

I'm guessing you'll need to decompile the swf file to see what it's linking to in the background, but beyond that I have no idea.

You'll be wanting to search your temporary internet files/cache/puter (including hidden & system files) for something along the lines of thief_ds_*.swf
(seems to work best with the dreaded ie.)

You should be able to make it available offline in the Favorites menu.

darn it. So very close.
Ok, making the webpage available offline doesn't seem to help. It still tells you the page is not available offline. And visiting the temporary internet files *partially* helps. IE, I now can get the swf files for the menus (screenshots, trailers, etc) which would be great. . .if I wanted them. lol I can also get part of the animations I want, but apparently they're not all the same. They seem to be just the bit where a dark figure passes in front of the camera then cuts off instead of going into the looping bit. I cannot find hide nor hair of the loops that I want. (although the bits of the figure passing the camera are cool too, they just don't work all by their lonesomes)
This is frustrating. Thanks for the suggestions, though! Its appreciated.
