Interesting. More than a little unclear as to what they want and exactly what the association is with the Dark Mod let alone the focus on Thief Gold and not any of the other franchise games. It also sounds like they want a 5 minute trailer of the mod and not the mod itself. I wonder how many takers they will get.

They're focusing on Thief Gold because they are giving it away for free to all contestants. It's basically saying "you can use this game were are giving you for free if you don't have anything else."
A pointless contest, anyway, since the USA restriction disqualifies most of the Thief modding community.

...or, it's an opportunity for the community to show the pros how it's done...under any Thief platform you like. Thief 1, 2, 3 or even TDM.
Want to port a Thief 1 mission to Thief 3...you can do it legally for the contest. Unfortunately it's limited to North America for now due to each district of Amazon being separate, but this may change. Fingers crossed. I think the Thief 3 Gold Project would be a great contender if it can be made eligible.

I might not agree with most of EM's decisions lately regarding Thief 4, but I think this is a good thing and also a nice gesture of goodwill towards the Thief community, which I didn't expect. The US-restriction is unfortunate, though.

I like the inclusion of The Dark Mod - perhaps there still is a chance to make it part of the "officially Thief-universe" (using the original settings, characters etc.)?
