I just sold my Geforce 1660ti because I wasn't using its power at all (been playing on a PS4) and to my shock turned out that they are still going for very high prices now due to crypto mining, so I'm left with a Geforce 710 now :joke:
I will test it in fan missions this evening, but I was wondering what cards others taffers use. My 710 I pulled from one of my office PCs, it is a low profile Zotac 1GB DDR3 RAM version and uses whopping 25 watts at max load.
I now regret selling my previous card which was a Geforce 960, it was perfect for the '7th gen' games if you know what I mean, and even most modern games at 1080p.

Bad idea, actually. Obviously, most of the FMs will run smoothly but we also have a significant amount of rather demanding (and with a good reason) missions. 710 isn't good enough. Most not very old integrated videocards (like Vega 8-11) are much better.

"Y'know, my current video card is just TOO powerful", said no sane person ever.

I'm also terribly sad to be stuck with my 2080 TI...

Wellll.... I'm happy to report that fan missions work absolutely fine on the 710 at 1080p at 60 fps - I don't see or feel any difference to the 1660ti.
I'm impressed with this 710 - it supports my monitor's 1440p and up to 3 monitors. The quality is as good as 1660ti's. I don't know about the future but for now it is the perfect little card for me :joke: Maybe if/when things settle down, I will get a new middle-range grafix card, like I have always done, just for the sake of it, because I'm playing everything on the sony paystations now.

Btw, I've been using a GT640, 2GB for 8-9 years (it cost $80 CDN back in 2012-2013, can you believe it?), it can run Skyrim smoothly at full res. I recently bought a GT 1030 as a backup in case the old one dies

I am using an AMD Radeon R7 240 in a "Frankenstein" computer, built from leftover and damaged parts of old machines and revived by applying electric current to it. This graphics card is a low-end (or maybe lowest-end) one, and buying it was a compromise between several wannabe properties taken into account. As far as I can deduct from Internet sources, this card does offer low performance comparable to the GeForce 710 and 730 cards, which are still sold today for low prices (although they seem to have gone up as well with the prices of more powerful cards in the last year). The performance of that card is a bit higher than that of an already old integrated graphics chip which I used a lot from 2013 to 2020, the Intel HD Graphics 3000.
The R7 240 is a bit better than the HD 3000. So far, I have not found any Thief mission which was nearly unplayable with that Radeon card, but there were some missions having spots that were okay with the Radeon, but gave trouble with the Intel graphics. Depending on what model of the Geforce 710 you (zajazd) have, your mileage may vary somewhat, but for Thief 1 and 2, it should be good to go. If things get bad, you can still lower resolution, and most likely, you will find a way to make many, if not all, missions playable.
Try walking around in the start area of the "Keeper of Infinity 2" campaign, including the river below the bridge. Try climbing up onto the roofs of the town in "Breaking the Stone" and looking around. If these places don't give you much trouble, then most likely your graphics card is good enough for the majority of Thief 1 and 2 missions.
However, if you sell a graphics card in order to replace it with another one you already own, then it would be a bright idea to check out the performance of the weaker card before attempting to sell the more powerful one, don't you think?;)

I was pretty sure that 710 would be fine for fan missions because the grafix are very bare with a few exceptions. It feels strange to be left without a gaming video card though. I don't want to buy a 1030 because it doesn't have good price/performance ratio - it is like twice less powerful than my old 960, I would rather buy a used 1050ti but they are going for 150 to 200 euro now and it's not worth it if I won't be using it anyway, all I play on PC is Thief fan missions.

Did you try posting this somewhere else like the Technical & Troubleshooting forum? This really isn't the right forum for discussing hardware, and you would probably get more responses over there. :)
