German Garret is not too bad...but English Garret is far better. S. Russell has the quintessential Garret voice. His voice just cannot be beat. :thumb:

One thing I forgot: The absolutely avioded to use the word "Taffer" in the German version. Well, it's hard to translate an artificial word, but to leave it out completely is a bad solution.

Yes Steven Russell has the perfect voice for Garrett. I don't think anyone could beat Stephen Russell at doing Garrett's voice. Maybe they could've taught Stephen Russel some german, and then they could have an original Steven Russel doing Garrett for <i>all</i>versions of the game.

I think that Stephen Russell does capture the persona of Garrett very well but I think that whoever they had do the voice would seem like "home" to us (as long as it is believable). But now that we've heard Stephen Russell no one else will ever measure up.

okok you can't really compare the german thief to the all beloved english variant, but I just wanted to point out that in comparison with other translated games (and most german games suck incredibly translationwise) thief 1 (2) is still one of the best games out on the market.

Well he was in a film called Noelle playing some guy called Bob and he's in a film to be released this year called Chatham playing Luther Norris. But I couldn't find a single picture of him - BA to the rescue!!
