Oh god no not again. Wasn't the first Doom movie enough? - by june gloom

From what I heard, it originally had even less to do with the original game as it wasn't even set on Mars, but on some random extra-solar planet. Hence why they only show the outside of the base like once in the entire movie.

That was actually what Hollywood wanted it, from what I hear. The screenwriter did a lot of fighting to get it back on Mars the way he originally wrote it.

You could actually make a good Doom movie, if you make it like the original game, full of action and dumb, with a good dose of comedy (and not the stupid kind, the badass kind)

Maybe they should make a film adaptation of the Doom comic book that was mentioned here previously.

How about no.

I laughed at the first doom movie but when I saw it I realized it wasn't that terrible. It was bad, but not Boll bad. I played the original doom when I was real young, and I liked it plenty, but its not a franchise I have an emotionally invested in, so I could really care less either way.
I think that the original story (what I remember barely of it) would make a more interesting movie, but changing it for me is not like making a thief movie and changing hammerites into Muslim terrorists and placing it in the 1800's.
To be honest it makes plenty of sense the way they did it, the most recent iteration of the Doom franchise was doom 3, which, with some monsters and demons, also had a heavy zombie-movie motif going, which audiences can more easily relate to, and since it was what most new gamers were more familiar with, they went with it.
Maybe the next Doom will involve more balls out demon bashing action and it will actually be fun, it not I wont really care.

heh.. have you read the novels? yeah.. theres novels. and for some reason i read 'em. And its WAY WAY different than either the movie or the game.
EDIT: (
http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Doom_novels) Seriously... read it and then marvel and how good of a job they did on the movie

You know, clean that up and make an actual story out of it and you might have something there.
And yeah I have the original novels (there's a newer series that started this year based on Doom 3). The original novels are pretty decent. Until you get to book three.
Holy shit book three. What the fuck!

Never read any of them, but the cover art for the 3rd did seem a bit wonky.
