Oh come on. Console kids get nickel and dimed to death all the time- I think PC gamers getting charged an extra $5 on one game is a fair deal.

There ain't no fair involved. The console kids are getting nickel and dimed because of the platform they're on. You get stability, and Microsoft/Sony give you a hell of a deal on the actual hardware and all that, but you also get licensing fees so you pay more for the games.
They ain't tossing valve a fiver out of every $20 copy of the game they sell on steam.
Besides, Capcom has already stated that they're charging more for the game on P.C. simply because they can. Capitalist society gives me precisely one way to tell him to fuck off, and I'm using it.

Yeah, but there really isn't much justification of the increased price on an open platform besides fears of piracy. :erg:

I don't think it has much to do with piracy, but yes, Capcom is riding us because they can. From (

It has nothing to do with Piracy concerns. It has to do with different business terms/expectations in that sector and more importantly, generally prevailing pricing of PC digital games versus their console counterparts.
The typical downloadable price for digital-only games on PC is actually $US 19.99.
That said, I'm probably going to end up buying it anyway as I don't have a 360 or PS3. I'm a big BC fan (the Gameboy version- the original B&W brick one, not the GBC one- is my favourite) so I pretty much have to get it.
Just not right away, most likely. All my cash is going into buying the Witcher next month.

They're charging more simply because they can? Yeah, that's shitty. But it's also just 5 bucks. I'm not gonna fret over that small of an amount. Specially not when I think they deserve the money.
Also, you have to pay the subscription for Xbox Live Gold before you can get downloadable content, correct? If that's the case, only the PS3 people are getting a break on the price.

Incorrect. Gold subscriptions are only needed for playing online. Everything else (Marketplace content, demos, DLC, etc.) is accessible to the free Silver accounts.

Are there any other direct comparisions between downloadable content available on both platforms? Other games that were available on Live/PSN and Steam or the like where the steam versions were more expensive?
Really, most of the situations where there were price difference that spring to mind were in reverse, typically pretty heavily so. To the tune of Pay for the Map Pack on the consoles, free on the PC.

Full games (like those on XBL Arcade) and DLC (like map packs) are apples and oranges.
