I think the talk about how his hearing reflected on his temperament is ridiculous. "Judicial temperament" doesn't apply to a judge who's being
personally slandered, libeled, and falsely accused of rape, sexual assault, gang rape, and other heinous crimes. Had he had been calm and dispassionate it would have been proof of being a sociopath to Democrats and their media allies. And there's no questioning that the media were Democrat allies in this instance. I've never seen such naked partisanship and hack journalism. His judicial temperament is obvious from his 12 year record as a judge, during which no one ever had a negative word to say about his temperament.
Yes...the reason why this is correct, is because during his long history as a judge, his temperament has been provably sound...Therefore, the emotion displayed during his testimony is
isolated to the specific context, where
righteous indignation was called for, given the overwhelming unjust treatment launched upon him and his family.
To say otherwise, simply reflects the unwillingness or inability to assess the emotional reaction in a properly isolated context.

And they said stoicism was dead...

Well the guy was legally confirmed and the only way he's coming off now is impeachment or he retires/dies, so we're beating a dead horse at this point. I expect more details one way or the other will shake out in the coming weeks, but it's kind of a moot point now whatever comes of it. I mean plenty of evidence came out supporting that Clarence Thomas lied during his confirmation hearings, but that obviously didn't matter.
Now we're supposed to move on to what we can expect from this court. I know a lot of conservatives were banking on Trump just to flip the ideological balance of the court to do things like end legal abortion, allow beefed up police powers and anti-immigrant laws to pass, etc, etc, but if the court starts being used for openly political purposes to be just an arm of the regime, like it is in the countries that Trump admires, then that was a devil's bargain and we have bigger problems than matters of legal interpretation.
