How many other freedoms are you willing to sell out just to protect that one? It seems to me that this is the choice we're faced with. We can possibly take a hit to guns, or live in a moralist enforced surveillance state.

President Trump on Friday joined those attacking the credibility of Christine Blasey Ford, who has charged that Brett Kavanaugh attempted to rape her at a party decades ago. Trump said his Supreme Court nominee is “under assault” by Democrats who want to derail his confirmation to the high court.
cheeto hitler is correct.

In regards to the circus that the Democrats have turned this confirmation into (with Republicans rolling over for it): The committee should subpoena Ms. Ford and demand her testimony by Monday. She shouldn't get to dictate when and where she'll testify, who can and can't ask her questions, who can or can't be in the room, what order everyone has to testify in, or other (
https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2018/09/fords-ridiculous-demands.php) bullshit demands. Kavanaugh, Ford, and Smythe have all submitted testimony to the committee under oath that leaves them liable to prosecution should their testimony be proven false. It's time, more than time, for Ford to put up or shut up--she's alleging attempted rape and murder against a sitting federal judge and has the temerity to dictate how and when she'll testify and how she wants the investigation conducted. Republicans need to grow a spine, subpoena her and vote already.
They could do that, they have the numbers, but if they do that they must realize what they would look like to millions of people about to vote in mid-terms......?
Politically, that could be very damaging.
What is wrong with waiting until Thursday and showing some sensitivity to someone who wanted to remain anonymous in the first place and is now receiving death threats? You don't really believe this woman completely fabricated all this and brought on all this upheaval to her life just as a political favour to the Dems, do you?

sure as hell looks that way, she is trying to dictate terms and have people subpoena , look at list.
Quote:
**Ford will not appear any sooner than next Thursday
**No questions to be asked at hearing by any outside counsel — only senators
**
Mark Judge must be subpoenaed**Kavanaugh would testify first, then Ford would testify, and Kavanaugh would have no opportunity to respond or rebut
**Deadline for her to provide written statement before the hearing would be waived
Provide adequate security
Only one pool camera in hearing room
Ford and Kavanaugh allotted the same amount of time to talk
its a farse

If I were in charge of the Senate, I'd do something like this:
- FBI is immediately tasked to investigate and report back to the Senate Judiciary Committee on 5 Oct with whatever they have found, giving them two full weeks to interview as many people as they can
- Kavanaugh and Ford are subpoenaed to appear on 8 Oct, for closed door Q&A sessions, separately from each other. If either one of them decides not to show up, they lose their opportunity to address any FBI findings.
- Judiciary committee makes a recommendation the next day, 9 Oct, and publicly releases the FBI's report
- Full Senate confirmation vote held by the end of that week, 12 Oct
- Senators who are up for re-election go home to campaign and explain why they voted
No hearings and associated public spectacle. No more resisting an investigation. No more delay tactics. Apply due diligence and investigate the best you can, but stick to firm deadlines that resolve the nomination one way or another before the election.

Heywood, that sounds like a pretty good plan. It's too bad we couldn't also enforce the rule, don't be dicks to her like you were to Anita Hill.

Ford is not interested in anything other than delaying

I hope Ford can delay the nomination for a few months. And then the Democrats take the House and the Senate in November. And they'll say: "we're not gonna approve any of Trump's candidates for the Scotus. Because the people have spoken, the House and Senate belong to the Democrats. We're gonna wait until 2022 when we have a Democrat President, Democrat House and Democrat Senate. Till then, nobody gets appointed".
That will teach them Republican fuckers.
