I was just thinking, after Viktora died, I noticed that Garrett, at the end of the game, is a little more willing to carry on. I always wondered if this was because of Viktoria's death, or the fact that her passing had fuled his anger for Karras and he still had some steam to blow.
In any case, after the end of T2, what happened to her? I wouldn't call them "friends", but Garrett and Viktora were really good allies. Why didn't we ever hear mention of her in TDS? Just wondering...

I think there MIGHT be a few folks who haven't played T2 yet, at least one guy out there!

I suppose so, but wouldn't it help to sell games if they related back to earlier ones? Plus, they made a reference to Karras, I think it was, in the Hammer factory.

...my point is more about your total massive spoilers both in the thread and the title itself

Ok, all fixed... I hope.
Thanks, Shadak.

there are plenty of references to Viktoria in TDS - the note about Dyan taking over after her death is the obvious one I can think of.

Well, that's true. But what about Garrett? I guess no one really knew her except for Constantine, Garrett, and the upper pagans, so I have to assume that the incident at the soulforge wasn't widespread. I just wonder why Garrett doesn't ever think back on it.
Then again, I suppose they couldn't do too much of that without making Garrett a total sap or overusing it as an excuse.
Well, I just answered my own question! Ugh, I should learn to think before I open my mouth :tsktsk:
If you find any more refrences, could you notify me?

In an earlier movie she makes Garrett swear a blood oath, and she swears one too (perhaps a sap oath), and she says something like the Earth will hold them to it. I'm sure he still would have wanted to bring down Karras, but maybe in that oath there was some sort of low-level magic that gave him some emotional involvement.
TheGrimSmile on 17/3/2008 at 19:26
Ouch, that would be kind of tricky of her.
Then again, maybe the oath wasn't even real. It's not like Garrett would try to break it. He doesn't know about that "save game" technology.

Garrett didn't like Viki's plan, at all.
She went off and did it her way, anyway.
Garrett found out about it and had to disregard whatever he was thinking, and didn't know what was going to happen.
Viktoria was in Soulforge wreaking havoc.
Before Garrett was ready to jump in and do something, Viki sacrificed herself, leaving Garrett alone, in Soulforge, with a pissed off Karras, surrounded by a hive swarm of enemies.
Garrett was upset, but got over it to finish the plan.
The level starts immediately after the cutscene's end.
Karras sees you and threatens you.
Garrett has no choice but to follow through or walk away and let the end of his world come that very night.
And I've said it before, but I concur with what R Soul said. Since I first saw that cutscene, I have always believed Garrett was spellbound. I thought it was damned obvious until I read on these boards that I was in a tiny minority. I have no idea how the voice-acting sounds in other languages, but Stephen Russell's inflections and hesitation cue me in to the fact that something has happened. In TDS, Dyan is said to be able to control minds and get the controlled to do her will, and she's not a wood-nymph.
