Back in 2006 I found this forum and my main interest was inside info on the future of the Thief series. I was welcomed by sarcasm, and an elitist attitude that for the most part kept me from returning on any regular basis to contribute here. My thread sparked the "Sticky" about Thief 4 NEVER being made, and to just stop asking... and so on and so on.
Now there is a sticky in it's place that says the contrary. I have been keeping an eye on the games development on my own outside of these forums. I just returned to say thanks for all the help, and constructive sarcasm. It Really made a difference. :p
This forum has the largest collection of confrontational, and arguementitive people I have ever had the pleasure of passing through.

I'll bet you don't care to remember that a hundred threads were started (not "25,000 posts" to sift through, lol) asking if there would be another Thief game, instead of searches made to find the most current answer of the day. Thinking you were the only one who has asked such an obvious question is also silly, and you give yourself too much credit.
Until 2007, there was no new Thief game even being considered by the industry. It wasn't until April 2009 that the new game started development. All responses prior to April 2009 about whether there would be another game or not were valid. Now the answer is officially "yes", and before that it was "no." Being a lazy smartass is guaranteed to get you negative responses.:p:p:p Take what you are told, put in a little effort yourself, instead of fighting people and being lazy about getting the answers readily available to you, and you won't annoy people. You are now trolling. Elitism has nothing to do with the responses you are getting. You are intentionally being an ass and getting treated as such.
You didn't inspire the sticky, you helped make it a necessity since n00b after n00b kept asking and asking without searching and thinking that the "no" answer was pessimism rather than cold fact. Even then, people still kept asking, never looking at the upper part of their screen for the answer. The company making Thief 4 today did not exist in 2006. The company making Thief 4 today includes not one person who made any of the other Thief games.

First I will concede to you that back in 2005/2006 there was a minor amount of eletism (from my perspective anyways). And there are those here who thrive on nastiness (they proudly drove off a 15 year old semi-recently).
However in both cases, these are not the majority of ttlg. Certainly there are those here who are vocally opinionated, but all of us are guilty of that at some point or another, and the forums have mellowed quite a bit in the last few years (which you'd have seen if you'd returned on a regular basis).
To pop in 3 years later spouting bile is hardly fair credit to the people here.
And if you think "This forum has the largest collection of confrontational, and arguementitive people I have ever had the pleasure of passing through." go try the Atari forums for RCT3. The Thief forums on ttlg are a monitored kindergarten playground in comparison to what I see there sometimes.
I also notice you dip into sub forums here such as community chat. Sorry you didn't recieve notice sooner, but that's where a lot of really vicious persons on this board mostly hang. Not the place for a good sampling of the overall disposition of the forums in general.
In addition, I notice your post count to any Thief related forums on here is limited to 5 total. Wow! Way to get a good feel for the few hundred or so people who post in them.
And looking at the thread I assume to be one of the ones that pissed you off back in 2006, did you actually read any of the links jtr7 posted? You stated "umm, thanks, i think. maybe next time i'll search through all 25,000 posts, and hope i don't miss one or two that answer my question. my bad." Well, if you'd actually clicked on any of them, you'd have seen that most of them plainly stated they were about "Will there be a Thief 4" in the thread title.
How hard is it to use search to look up Thief 4, and look in the dozens of pre-exisiting Thief 4 threads for your answers? He wasn't being ignorant, he was providing you with place to look, which if you stuck around long enough to get to know jtr7, you'd have realized. Did you even read his response below your's?

I wouldn't exactly call that sarcastic or scathing. If anything I'd call your response between his to be the sarcastic, snide one.
I'm sure I've lost you by this point, if you ever even come back here at all, but I'd suggest swimming out of the kiddie pool and seeing if the whole rest of the pool is actually filled with sharks or if it's just a small percentage.
As a side note, I'm actually one of the most n00b friendly people on this board, but your coming in here and attacking us with barely any experience here set me off. Try posting without the vitriol, and maybe you won't get any in return. :) And if you do get any, I guarantee you it's a small percentage of the users here.

ttlg is a fickle beast, to be honest it entirely depends on which section you visited and what you talked about...
For the most part the Thief and Tech sections are full of friendly people, where as comm chat is mostly frequented by smart mouth trolls, some of which you may have had the misfortune to run into on your last visit perhaps..
I've been there and got the t-shirt...
