Yes.

GoW I & II special edition reworked for PS3 coming out just before GoW III.

Now if they can get on with porting loads of the other PS2 games (ICO, Res, SoC) we won't care so much about lack of backwards compatibility.

I'd love for a PS3 Ico/SoTC/Rez rerelease, but ehhh... I doubt that's gonna happen.

The survey thingy this came about from actually had the 'GoW I/II on a BD' as an option for possible GoW III bonus content. Guess the results were encouraging enough that Sony decided to cash in on it instead. Oh well, I'll probably get it anyway. GoW I & II in HD is a pretty tempting deal.

Sweet, being able to play them at full speed for the first time, rather than the 15% slower PAL 50Hz version that we got.

I'll just wait.

This has sparked some interesting debate over at Kotaku. People are suggesting other collections that would be popular like MGS, Ico/SotC, FF and so on.

And its moved to "now we know why there is no backwards compatibility" which I think is a stretch. I'd love to see some other series done as packs though.

You should get a PS2. Some damned fine games for that thing. I may have to buy a new one soon, though, it's served me faithfully for a good 8 years and is starting to run a little wonky.
