Again, big differences between the real thing and the crap you buy at American supermarkets.
Yep. The supermarket stuff sucks, I don't even know why it's called "sushi" when they don't even use raw fish at all.

nah man sushi is awesome (and by extension you suck for not liking it)
I dunno if it's sushi in general he doesn't like, so much as that sushi.
That said, if I had to choose between sushi and tacos, I'd choose tacos.

There's good sushi, bad sushi, american supermarket sushi, and then possibly...burmese sushi (or mayanmar sushi?). I think you can cut dema some slack.
Also, MrDuck: what
is that third picture? All the rest look delicious, but that one looks like someone ate a bucket of pig snouts and then threw up onto pancakes.

As it stands, you don't have to choose. I would highly suggest trying authentic Italian food(in Italy) if you ever get the chance. Even what they'd consider cheap food(moderately priced by American standards) is excellent compared to what's available over here.

Sushi is not raw fish, but rather vinegared rice that is mixed with other ingredients, which may or may not include raw fish.
Technically, sushi means vinegar rice. The Japanese word 'su' means vinegar and 'shi' is from meshi, which is the Japanese word for rice.
Sashimi is thinly sliced raw meat—usually fish, such as salmon or tuna—that is served without rice.
In some countries, the terms "sushi" and "sashimi" may be used interchangeably, but this is incorrect usage.

While that might be the correct technical term, colloquality sushi does mean fish on rice. Or at least that's what everyone in Japan assumed when we talked about it. You are correct about sashimi tho, it doesn't include rice unless specified.

Already tried that at the end of last page. Nobody was interested.
