the title basically says it. what is Gamall's true name? :grr: because, wasnt that Lauryl's last name? could it be that shes Interpreter Diocen, the Interpreter from T1/G/2? or could it be that she was a very early Keeper (:laff: shes old enough to be Orland's great-great-great-grandma! wouldnt THAT be creepy?)? or maybe she was a keeper at one time, but got kicked out and so decided to make herself immortal so she could wreak havok on her former enemies?
further speculation IS required. :weird:

She's one of the first Keepers, that's for sure. Whether she's Orland's grandma or not, is not known though :weird:. I'll have to replay Thief 3 again I think....

Apparently I missed a few things playing Thief3. I don't remember her being a keeper or the girl's last name being Gamall. This stuff was mentioned in the game?

RH.
Lauryl's last name isn't mentioned in the game. Gamall is the true name - she purged her own name from Keeper records, and stole Lauryl's skin so that she could take a new, more innocuous form.
This is the closest Gamall has been able to get to the Interpreter position in her history, and she's able to do so because of the internal decay in the Keeper order.
Gamall is an old Keeper that swore an oath to never use a powerful new glyph of changing. She decided that she'd break her oath; this glyph is what allows her the longevity she enjoys and the ability to steal other people's forms.
It's mentioned in the Keeper library and in Gamall's hideout.

And makes for a very weak plot in comparision to thief 1 and 2

How do you compare one game to 2? It's a planned continuition of the series.
This is the reductionist argument all over again, a game has a few issues and all of a sudden everything is wrong with it. What other complaints have we heard so far? That the blackjack doesn't work? This is obvious trolling. :tsktsk:

I'm sorry i will shut up - it is a nervous reaction or something.

Gamall is in fact a sweet old lady named Margaret who owns a bakery and spends her time gardening and talking to pigeons. :p

She can't be one of the first Keepers I believe. As far as I can see, the first Keepers invented glyph magic for their own purposes. Certain glyphs were deemed to be too dangerous for common use though and thus certain glyphs were sealed away. Gamall and her companions found one of them and vowed to never use it or reveal its location. Gamall had no intention of keeping her vow though. Gamall couldn't be one of the first Keepers since the glyph would not have been sealed away by that point.
