Ren, I fell asleep last night. I did get the demo, and I am loading it for the first time right this second. If its 1/2 as good as you say, I will be purchasing this ASAP.

Current Verdict: The potential for greatness is there, but the game is currently a little on the buggy side of things. Single player isn't too bad, but MP, where the game really shines, can be a pain in the ass to get running, and keep running.
But if you do...oh, if you do...there's great fun waiting to be had by all. I don't think I've ever laughed as much during a game as I did playing this with Minion, his friend whatshisface, and Duck last night.
Pretty much, yeah. The netcode is a little funky and could use some ironing out, but aside from that I've been having a great time with it. And, it's always a good time when I can punch Duck in the balls.

Oh yeah, who was the absolute bastard that started spraying fire all over the ice bridge while we were crossing it? That was funny as hell, and I hate them for it.
edit: BANANAR!

Adored the demo, I'm actually buying it when I get home from work tonight. Maybe two copies, if I can get it working on the girlfriend's Macbook.

And surprisingly enough, I actually prefer playing this game with the 360 controller.
I might end up doing this as well, I'm curious how it ends up configured. I mean, the 360 has eight buttons, which works for the eight magics, but what do you use for casting them?

It's sort of a simple gesture based setup, with the right thumbstick used to select your spells. You have two spells assigned to each cardinal direction, up is heal and arcane, left is lightning and water, right is ice and fire, and down is earth and shield. Once you hit in one of those directions, you then swing the thumbstick in the direction of the spell you want to use.
Admittedly, it's not quite as quick as hitting QWER ASDF, but you never have to worry about accidentally moving your fingers slightly and hitting the wrong keys in the heat of the moment (which can lead to horribly deadly consequences for everyone involved). Once you get used to it, you'll be hitting all the spells you want with one fluid flick of your thumb.
edit: I should've gone more indepth. You cast your spells with the bumpers and triggers. The right trigger shoots your spell out as usual, same as the right mouse. The right bumper casts on yourself, like the middle mouse. The left trigger is used for AOE explosions, like hitting shift-right click. And lastly, the left bumper is used for casting your combo spells, like the spacebar. Swinging and charging your sword up with magic is done with A, like shift-left click. The other buttons are used for picking stuff up (X, I believe), and talking to people (B). Y does something, but I can't remember exactly what (helpful, I know :P).

Patch! WOOHOO!
You know, if there is one thing I'm disappointed about, it's the lack of deathmatch. I've been burnt out on DM for years, and normally don't care about the lack of it in a game, but Magicka lets you be a teetotal dick to your friends and loved ones with such style and panache, it's a shame you don't get points for killing them off.

X is for picking up, talking and general interaction.
B is Cast spell
Y is Cast on self
Right Bumper is some sort of block while I haven't found a use for Left Bumper

Okay, cool. I was pretty sure I had a couple mixed up, I just didn't know which. But B used to cast your spells? I thought that was exclusively the right trigger. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure you hit B to break away from monsters when they grab you.
And I think that little block maneuver is boosting. I haven't had a chance to use it much yet, but if you use it next to a shield, it looks like you can strengthen it by hitting that button over and over again.

Multi-purpose buttons.
